MLB Betting Analysis Sept 16-22
Monday, Sep 16
Baltimore Orioles at Detroit Tigers
Baltimore starter John Means is only 10-10. However, the O’s are 3-1 SU in Means last 4 starts. Not only that, but his 3.47 ERA should be good enough for Baltimore to win this matchup.
Pick: Baltimore Orioles
Washington Nationals at St. Louis Cardinals
Washington starts Stephen Strasburg. The Nats should have a tough time on Monday, though. St. Louis starter Dakota Hudson has a 3.38 ERA while the Cards are 6-1 SU in Dakota’s last 7 starts.
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals
Tuesday, Sep 17
Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs
Back the Cubs on the run line in this matchup. Tyler Mahle is 2-11 SU this season. Yu Darvish has led the Cubs to 3 wins in his last 4 starts. This is when Chicago gets into a groove.
Pick: Chicago Cubs run line
Texas Rangers at Houston Astros
The Rangers have lost 7 straight Lance Lynn starts. Things wouldn’t be so dire if the Stros didn’t start Justin Verlander on Tuesday. Verlander will lead Houston to at least a 2 run victory.
Pick: Houston run line
Wednesday, Sep 18
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
The Braves should run Zach Eflin off the mound early in this one. Eflin hasn’t had his best stuff in recent starts. Philly is only 2-8 in his last 10 starts. On Wednesday, they send Julio Teheran to the mound. So, all good on the ATL’s end.
Pick: Atlanta Braves
Tampa Bay Rays at L.A. Dodgers
Rays-Dodgers should be an interesting matchup on Wednesday. LAD lists Tony Gonsolin as their starter. Gonsolin only lasted 3 innings in his last start, but the Dodgers won. The same type of game could play out on Wednesday.
Pick: L.A. Dodgers
Thursday, Sep 19
Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians
You don’t even have to know who’s pitching for Cleveland before backing the Tribe on the run line. Tigers’ starter Adam Plutko is 3-15 overall. The Tigers are 1-14 SU in Plutko’s last 15 starts.
Pick: Cleveland run line
St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs
Cardinals battle Cubs in one of the best rivalries in any sport this week. On Thursday, Kyle Hendricks starts for Chicago. When Hendricks is at home, he’s difficult to beat. However, Jack Flaherty held the Cubbies to only a single hit in 7 innings the last time he faced them. Cards take this.
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals
Friday, Sep 20
Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays
Rick Porcello heads to the mound for the Red Sox. Charlie Morton takes the mound for the Rays. In a battle between Porcello and Morton, Charlie gets the nod. Tampa Bay wins.
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays
Colorado Rockies at L.A. Dodgers
The L.A. Dodgers should beat Colorado by 2 on Friday. Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for LAD while the Rockies are 1-4 SU in Peter Lambert’s last 5 starts.
Pick: L.A. Dodgers run line
L.A. Angels at Houston Astros
The Angels are 0-8 SU in Jaime Barria’s last 8 starts. Here’s another top run line play this week.
Pick: Houston Astros run line
Saturday, Sep 21
Philadelphia Phillies at Cleveland Indians
Phillies starter Jason Vargas has had okay trips to the mound this season. He hasn’t had as good of a season as Cleveland listed starter Shane Bieber. Bieber will use his 3.26 ERA to control the Philly bats.
Pick: Cleveland Indians
Sunday, Sep 22
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees
Yankees’ ace Luis Severino is set to start his second game this season on Sunday. If Severino is even close to his old self, the Yankees should win by 2. Even if he isn’t, NYY takes the victory.
Pick: New York Yankees
