Bet On These MLB Games In Week 20

Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres
When:  Wednesday, August 19th

The home team, the Padres, send Tyson Ross to the mound to battle the down on their luck Atlanta Braves. Even though Atlanta hasn’t been that good this season, they’ve done well versus Ross. The Padres have hit .308 versus the San Diego pitcher. Out of 39 total at-bats, San Diego players have recorded 12 hits, a home run from Nick Swisher, and 3 RBIs. Ross’s ERA of 3.40 isn’t terrible. His WHIP of 1.38 isn’t very good, though. If Ross doesn’t show up with his best stuff on Wednesday, it could be a long afternoon.

This is particularly true since Atlanta’s pitcher on Wednesday, Julio Teheran, has had nothing but success when facing San Diego. Overall, Teheran’s numbers point to issues. His ERA is 4.44. His WHIP is 1.35. But versus the Padres, Teheran has allowed only 15 hits, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs from 69 at-bats. That equates to a .217 batting average.
Teheran allowed only 3 hits and a single run versus Arizona on Aug. 14. He appears to be in good enough form to pull off the upset in this matchup. Go with Julio Teheran and the Braves on Wednesday.

Kansas City Royals at Boston Red Sox
When:  Friday, August 21st

The KC Royals have been hot lately. The Royals have won 7 out of their last 10 games going into an Aug. 16 matchup with the L.A. Angels. On Friday, the Royals’ scheduled starter is the terrific Johnny Cueto. Cueto has a 2.46 ERA and a .93 WHIP. Since arriving from Cincinnati, Cueto has allowed a total of 24 hits, 6 runs, and 1 home run in 30 innings pitched. Cueto has only faced the Boston batters 24 total times. Pablo Sandoval has gone 3 out of 12, Hanely Ramirez has gone 2 out of 8 and Josh Rutledge has gone 3 out of 3.

The Red Sox counter Cueto on Friday with Henry Owens. Owens’ 6.19 ERA and 1.50 WHIP don’t look good versus Kansas City’s incredible bats. Owens has never faced KC batters before. He’ll have some trouble because the Royals bat .270 as a team.

Don’t mess around. Give up the 1 ½ runs on Cueto and the Royals in this Friday matchup.

Toronto Blue Jays at L.A. Angels
When: Sunday, August 23rd

This is a great Sunday matchup with 2 teams fighting for playoff spots. The Blue Jays send Drew Hutchison to the mound. The stats are somewhat strange on Hutchison. Even though he has a 5.06 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP, Hutch has gone 12 and 2 on the season. Versus the Angels, Hutchison has allowed 5 home runs, a .292 batting average and 21 hits from 72 at bats.

Garrett Richardson is one of the few pitchers in MLB that can shut down the Blue Jays. He’s allowed a .213 batting average and only 2 home runs in 89 at bats. Back Richardson and the Angels.
