MLB Week 21 Betting Cheat Sheet

Welcome to Week 21 of Major League Baseball. With about six weeks and 40 games left per team, the race to October is on. I am here to give you my best bets to make this week.

If the season ended today, you could be betting on a Cardinals-Royals World Series rematch of the 1985 Series. Another possible World Series matchup could feature both NYC squads. The Yankees and Mets re-enacting their Subway Series of 2000.

Anyways enough of my pipe dreams.  Here are the top baseball games to bet on in week 21.

Major League Baseball Week 21’s Best Bets To Win Big

Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers
When: Wednesday, August 26th

The Angels’ Hector Santiago, an All-Star this season, has started to pitch like the pre-30 year old that he is. Santiago only lasted 3.2 innings versus the Toronto Blue Jays in his last start. He gave up 4 runs, 2 earned, off of 3 hits. Versus the Tigers, Santiago has pitched well when holding the Tigers to 13 hits from 80- at-bats for a .183 ERA.

Detroit’s Justin Verlander has much more experience than Hector Santiago. Verlander has pitched exceptionally well in his last 3 starts. From a total of 20 innings pitched in his last 3 starts, Verlander has given up only 11 hits and 1 earned run. That’s impressive.

Even though Santiago owns the Tigers, the Angels don’t often win on the road. Bet on Verlander and Detroit in this MLB week 21 matchup.

Pick: Detroit Tigers

Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers
When: Friday, August 28th

The Chicago Cubs have been hot lately. The Cubbies have won 20 out of their last 25 going into the week. The pitcher scheduled to take the mound for Chicago on Friday is Jason Hammel. Hammel’s ERA is 3.35 while his WHIP is 1.09. Versus the Dodgers, Hammel has allowed 31 hits from 119 at-bats, including 4 home runs.

But, Hammel should feel good about his chances on Friday. Even though the Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw to the mound, the Cubs have a good shot of winning this contest. Kershaw is 10 and 6 even though his ERA is 2.29 and his WHIP is .92. The Cubs bat .246 versus Kershaw. More importantly, the Dodgers are 1 and 3 straight up in Kershaw’s last 4 starts.

Bet on Hammels and the hot Cubs in this Friday baseball game.

Pick: Chicago Cubs

Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays
When: Sunday, August 20th

Alfredo Simon is scheduled to take the mound for Detroit on Sunday. Simon has been very effective versus Blue Jay batters. He’s allowed only 11 hits from 58 at-bats for a .190 batting average. The Tigers have responded when Simon has been on the mound. They are 6 and 2 in Simon’s last 8 starts.

The Blue Jays counter with Mark Buehrle. Buehrle has always had trouble versus Detroit. From 180 at-bats, Buehrle has allowed 61 hits including 5 home runs, 4 from Victor Martinez, and 29 RBIs, 15 from Victor Martinez. In order for Toronto to win this game, Buehrle is going to have to be very good against Martinez.

Toronto’s offense has been on fire lately. Simon has been pitching well, but it’s tough to go against the home team in this matchup. Bet on the Blue Jays to win on Sunday.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays
