The Series We Have All Been Waiting For

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees

The Series We Have All Been Waiting For

Last year is in the past and this is a new season for both of these teams. The Red Sox are the current World Series winners so they do have that to show off but the Yankees seem to have found their calling, winning 4 of their last five games. This game will not be an easy one, do not expect to see any of these pitchers giving anything up and just because it is one of the best rivalries in baseball, don’t be surprised if the pitchers look to test the strike zone out a little early in this one.

Jacoby Ellsbury faces his former team for the first time on Thursday when the New York Yankees begin a four-game set with the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.

Boston actually is having a very similar opening season as they did last year, only they are missing some of their bigger players from last season´s roster. The Red Sox will be going with Clay Buchholz for this opening game in Yankee stadium because of his overall record against the New York ball club. So far this year Buchholz has a 12.46 ERA with only three strikeouts but when he takes the field against the Yankees he transforms and is able to pitch almost lights out.

New York knows that the fans want to see red blood in this game, they want Boston to not only lose but lose bad, and they will be cheering their Yankees on like hooligans at a soccer game. Michael Pineda drew the start for this opening game against Boston and I think it will be a great test for the young pitcher to see how he handles this type of home stress…

Pick: Pineda´s ERA is at 1.50 with 5 strikeouts and a loss this season but I did see some more speed from last year and I think that these teams will split down the middle with the home team taking 95% of the games. The team that wins on the road will take the overall series at the end of the season.
