Chicago pummeled the Dodgers 3 straight for a 4 to 2 NLCS win. Cleveland took care of Toronto in 5 games. Both teams go into this series hot. Chicago is on a 3-game winning streak. Cleveland has won 7 out of their last 8 games.

Bet on Chicago Cubs (-175) Because…

Chicago’s starting pitching is unbelievable. The Cubs bring 4 legit starters into the 2016 World Series. Ace Jon Lester ended up as the co-MVP along with Javier Baez for the NLCS. He shut down the Dodgers. Jake Arrieta can pitch late into games. Kyle Hendricks led the National League in ERA during the regular season. There’s also John Lackey who brings veteran leadership to the rotation.

Bet on Cleveland Indians (+155) Because…

Cleveland had no trouble knocking out Boston and Toronto, 2 teams that were favored to beat the Indians for the American League Pennant. The Indians dominated Boston. The Red Sox went into the AL Playoffs as the favorite to meet the Cubs in the World Series. All Cleveland did was win 3 straight to sweep Boston. Then, Cleveland beat the Blue Jays, again as a dog, in 4 out of 5 games to win the pennant.

2016 World Series Expert Pick

Cleveland dominated Boston and Toronto because neither one of those teams has a starting pitcher that could shut down the Indians. All the Indians had to do against both the Red Sox and Blue Jays is secure a lead before unleashing middle reliever Andrew Miller, who proved un-hittable and who can pitch 2 to 3 innings in each game.

But against Chicago, Cleveland may not have that luxury. The Cubs starting rotation is the absolute best in baseball. What it means is that Cleveland is going to have to be careful about when they put Miller into the game.

If the Cubs can hit Cleveland’s starters, this includes Corey Kluber who is the Indians’ ace, Miller may not be thrown into every game, or he may be thrown in late when the game is out of hand. Such is the danger when the success of your pitching staff is based around a middle reliever.

I think the Cubs are rolling. I don’t see how they don’t score runs versus Kluber, Trevor Bauer and Josh Tomlin. Cleveland might win 1 game in the 2016 World Series, but that’s it.

2016 World Series Prediction: Cubs in five.
