MLB Expert Picks August 13-19

MLB Expert Picks August 13-19

As the 2018 MLB regular season chugs towards the post-season, the top MLB teams will begin to seperate themselves from the pretenders. I have a trio of MLB expert betting picks for the week of August 13-19th.

MLB Expert Picks August 13-19

Seattle at Oakland
When: Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 3:35 pm ET
Where: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA
TV: MLBN

Analysis: Seattle heads to Oakland to battle the A’s with precious little time left in the current MLB Season to make up ground in the AL West. The Mariners have imploded after the All-Star Break.

Pitcher Mike Leake did throw well versus the Houston Astros on August 10, though. Leake only allowed 2 earned runs off 8 hits in 6 innings. The Mariners beat Houston 5 to 2.

Leake figures to have plenty of trouble against the Athletics on August 15. Oakland averages .361 at the plate versus Mike Leake. The A’s have recorded 48 hits from 133 at-bats. It sure looks like Oakland wins this game.

Pick: Oakland

Baltimore at Cleveland
When: Saturday, Aug. 18 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: Progressive Field, Cleveland, OH
TV: FS1

Analysis: Cleveland listed starter Carlos Carrasco is 13 and 6 with a 3.69 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Carrasco has been great for the Tribe in his last 10 starts. Cleveland is a very good 8 and 2 SU in those last 10 starts.

Carrasco’s only faced Oriole batters 58 times. That could open the door for the O’s to get to Carrasco if he does indeed start on Wednesday. Can Baltimore’s pitching hold up? Listed starter Yefry Ramirez has a 5.40 ERA to go along with a 1 and 4 win/loss record.

Ramirez’s stats aren’t great. But, the Tribe has never faced the 24-year-old. It sure looks like Baltimore can get the underdog win.

Pick: Baltimore

Houston at Oakland
When: Sunday, August 19 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA
TV: ESPN+

Analysis: Two of the better starters in MLB are projected to battle on Sunday, August 19 when the Houston Astros head to Oakland to battle the hot Athletics.

Oakland is listed as starting Sean Manaea while Houston is listed as starting Justin Verlander. The last time Manaea faced Houston, on July 10, he had trouble. He lasted 4 innings, allowed 3 earned runs off 7 hits, and struck out 4.

Verlander and the Stros should be favored in this matchup. That means giving Manaea another shot could lead to a betting win. Backing the A’s makes sense.

Pick: Oakland
