MLB Expert Picks June 11-14

Summer is in full swing. Basketball, Hockey & Triple Crown seasons are over. Football is still a few months away. That means you can you use my MLB expert picks to cash in big this week.

MLB Expert Picks June 11-14

Pittsburgh at Arizona
When:  Tuesday, June 12 at 9:40 pm ET
Where: Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ

Analysis: Pittsburgh starter James Tallion’s stats aren’t terrible. His ERA is a decent 4.08 while his WHIP is also decent at 1.20. Even Tallion’s record of 3 and 4 isn’t awful.

There are pitchers with much worse stats in MLB. Arizona starter Clay Buchholz, surprisingly, isn’t one of those pitchers. Buchholz has pitched well this season. He’s got a 1.88 ERA and a .83 WHIP.

Buchholz figures to dominate the Pirates. The D’Backs should win by at least 2 runs.

Pick: Arizona

Washington at New York Yankees
When:  Wednesday, June 13 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY

Analysis: It’s Nats’ pitcher Stephen Strasburg versus Yankees’ starter Sonny Gray in this intriguing interleague battle on Wednesday. Strasburg’s been his usual reliable self this season. His ERA is a very good 3.20 while he’s struck out 93 batters in 78.2 innings pitched.

But, Gray’s form appears to have turned around. In his last two starts, Sonny Gray has yielded 6 hits in 14 innings pitched. He’s also given up a single earned run while only walking 2 and striking out 8.

Gray’s looking good. I’ll back the Yankees.

Pick: New York Yankees

Tampa Bay at New York Yankees
When: Thursday, June 14 at 7:05 pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY

Analysis: After Wednesday’s battle with Washington, the New York Yankees are at home again on Thursday, June 14. This time, the Yankees take on AL East Division rival Tampa Bay.

Thursday’s Yankee starter is Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka’s got a strange stat line. On one hand, he hasn’t thrown the ball all that well this season. His ERA is 4.79. On the other hand, he’s been great because his record is 7 and 2.

The Yankees have gone 9 and 2 with a rainout in Tanaka’s starts this season. Not counting the rainout, NYY is 7 and 0 in Tanaka’s last 7 starts.

Yankees should win big on Thursday.

Pick: New York Yankees
