Keep reading for more on my free MLB expert picks of the week. Happy hunting sports fans!

A Closer Look At My MLB Expert Picks June 20-26

Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Dodgers
When: Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00pm ET
Listed Pitchers: WAS-Joe Ross vs LAD-Julio Urias

Julio Urias still hasn’t pitched more than 5 innings in a game. The Dodgers have kept the 19-year-old Mexican rookie to only 5 innings since his second start on June 2. Urias has a 4.50 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP.
Joe Ross for Washington hasn’t been as great as Stephen Strasburg or Gio Gonzalez this season. But his ERA of 3.13 is terrific while his WHIP of 1.17 isn’t bad. Since the Dodgers are watching Urias’ pitch count, this one is actually a no-brainer. Once the Dodgers send in their relievers, Washington should take charge. I think the Nationals win it easily.

Pick: Washington Nationals

Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies
When: Saturday, June 25 at 4:10pm ET
Listed Pitchers: AZ-Shelby Miller vs COL-Chad Bettis

Pitcher Shelby Miller has to be considered one of the biggest free agent disappointments of the MLB Season. Miller has a horrible 7.09 ERA and a 1-6 record. His WHIP is 1.86. To make things more difficult for Miller is the fact that he comes off of the 15-day DL this week.

Colorado has a .298 batting average from 21 at-bats versus Miller. The Rockies have 5 home runs, 10 walks, and 19 RBIs off of Arizona’s pitcher. Chad Bettis could have a bad game on the mound and the Rockies should still win this game.

Pick: Colorado Rockies

Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh Pirates
When: Sunday, June 26 at 8:00pm ET
Listed Pitchers:  LAD-Clayton Kershaw vs PIT-Jeff Locke

Is there a chink in Clayton Kershaw’s armor?  Nope. Not really. He pitches well in every ball park. He has a 1.58 ERA. His WHIP is .66. His record is 10-1.

But I see an opening that I’m taking. As good as Kershaw is, and he should win the Cy Young Award this season, he’s had trouble versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates bat a terrific .291 against Kershaw. The average is legitimate. Pirate batters have seen Kershaw 110 times. They have 3 home runs from 3 different players against him.

Andrew McCutchen, who dominates Kershaw with a .375 batting average, is starting to heat up. He has a home run and 5 hits in his last 10 at-bats as of June 19. I’m going with the Pirates.

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates
