MLB Expert Picks Sep 10-16

The MLB season is entering the final stretch towards the playoffs and I have a trio of MLB expert picks for the week of September 10th to the 16th. Happy hunting baseball fans.

MLB Expert Picks Sep 10-16

Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs
When: Wednesday, Sep. 12 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
TV: ESPN

Analysis: Milwaukee lists Chase Anderson as their Wednesday starter. Anderson’s 3.95 ERA and 1.16 WHIP aren’t terrible. More importantly, the Brew Crew’s responded when Anderson’s stepped onto the mound.

Milwaukee is 3-1 in Anderson’s last 3 starts. He holds the Cubs to a .220 batting average. Chicago has 37 hits from 168 at-bats.

The Cubs list Kyle Hendricks as their Wednesday starter. Hendricks doesn’t have either a flashy ERA or WHIP. His ERA is 3.71 while his WHIP is 1.21. He allows the Brew Crew to bat .257 against him. Not bad because Hendricks has faced Brewer batters 211 times.

The Cubs have been on fire every time Hendricks steps to the mound. Chicago’s gone 7-1 in Hendricks’ last 8 starts.

Pick: Chicago Cubs

L.A. Dodgers at St. Louis
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 1:05 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
TV: FOX

Analysis: The Dodgers head to St. Louis with their sights on the NL West Division. For Saturday’s matchup, the Dodgers start Alex Wood. Wood’s got a fantastic ERA, 3.37, and a nice WHIP, 1.18.

But, St. Louis bats .304 against Alex Wood. The Cardinals have 17 hits from 56 at-bats. It’s hard to see Wood suddenly discovering how to shut down St. Louis’ batting lineup. To make things more difficult for Wood, the Dodgers are 1-4 in Woods’ last 5 starts.

There aren’t many reasons to back Wood and the Dodgers in this matchup. St. Louis appears to have the edge.

Pick: St. Louis

L.A. Dodgers at St. Louis
When: Sunday, Sep. 16 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
TV: ESPN

Analysis: ESPN broadcasts Sunday’s L.A. Dodgers versus St. Louis game in primetime. The Cardinals start pitcher Mike Mikolas.

Mikolas is 14-4 with a 3.13 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. The Cardinals are a great 7-3 in Mikolas’ last 10 starts. The Dodgers do have 4 hits from 12 at-bats. Mikolas should have his stuff going on Sunday, though.

St. Louis will beat the Dodgers by at least 2 runs.

Pick: St. Louis
