MLB Free Picks April 25-May 1

MLB Free Picks April 25-May 1

The 2016 MLB Season continues to roll along. This week promises terrific matchups between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers on Wednesday and the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.

Also this weekend is the greatest rivalry in sports when the Yankees head to Boston to take on the Red Sox. No sport, football, basketball, nothing in boxing, compares to the Yankees versus the Red Sox. The storied rivalry is as competitive and hateful as it’s always been. Keep reading for my top Major League Baseball free betting picks for the week of April 25 to May 1st!

A Closer Look At My MLB Free Picks April 25-May 1

New York Yankees at Texas Rangers
When: Wednesday, April 27 at 8:00 pm ET
TV:  ESPN
Listed Pitchers: NYY-CC Sabathia vs TEX-Martin Perez

So far this season CC Sabathia hasn’t pitched very well as a starter. He’s allowed 20 hits and 9 earned runs in 15.1 innings pitched. Sabathia has a 5.28 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. The Rangers have gotten to Sabathia in the past. Texas bats .308 versus the former ace. Texas has 44 hits from 143 at-bats against CC.

Listed Texas starter Martin Perez is 0 and 2 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 24 innings this season. He’s only faced Yankee batters 26 times, giving up 9 hits, 1 hit being a home run, and 5 RBIs for a .346 batting average. Texas’s bullpen has a 5.48 ERA. The Yankees bullpen has a 2.91 ERA.
If the Yankee bats can keep it close, New York will have a shot for the minor upset.

Pick: New York Yankees

Washington Nationals at St. Louis Cardinals
When: Saturday, April 30 at 82:15 pm ET
Listed Pitchers: WAS-Stephen Strasburg vs STL-Jaime Garcia

Washington is 13 and 4 going into their April 24 game with the Twins because of hot hitting and an excellent bullpen. The Nationals’ bullpen has a 2.14 ERA. Daniel Murphy bats .411. Bryce Harper bats .323. Harper has 22 RBIs. He’s hit 8 home runs.

The Cardinals Jaime Garcia has pitched well this season. He’s also pitched well against the Nationals when allowing only a .276 batting average, a .176 average to Harper, in 87 at-bats. Plus, when Garcia leaves the mound, the Cardinals will send in someone from a bullpen that has a 2.37 ERA.

It’s awfully tough to beat St. Louis at home. Strasburg has been terrific in 3 starts so far this season. He figures to be the favorite, meaning that I’ll have to back the home team Cardinals to get it done versus one of the top squads in MLB this season.

Pick: St. Louis

New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox
When: Sunday, May 1 at 8:00 pm ET
TV: ESPN
Listed Pitchers: NYY-Nathan Eovaldi vs BOS-David Price

What’s up with David Price?  His ERA is 7.06. His WHIP is 1.38. What’s worse is that Price has never pitched all that well against the Yankees. In 338 at-bats, Yankee batters have belted Price for 87 hits, 8 being home runs and 33 RBIs. Jacoby Ellsbury is 21 out of 63 versus Price while Brian McCann is 10 out of 29.

Luckily for Boston, Nathan Eovaldi heads to the mound for New York. Eovaldi is 0 and 2 with a 6.11 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. He’s allowed 31 hits and a .388 batting average to Boston hitters from 80 at-bats. I like Price to get the job done on Sunday, May 1.
Pick: Boston Red Sox
