Memorial Week MLB Free Picks May 29-June 4

With the NBA playoffs on hiatus until June 1st, you can make some quick cash with my MLB free picks for this upcoming week.

Can the L.A. Dodgers travel to St. Louis and beat the tough Cardinals? My next best bet doesn’t happen until Saturday. Who wins when Texas hosts Houston in an all longhorn state clash? Sunday’s game has Boston traveling to Baltimore. Which Chris, Tillman or Sale, will pitch lights out for his team on June 4?

MLB Free Picks May 29th to June 4th

Los Angeles Dodgers at St. Louis
When: Wednesday, May 31 at 8:15 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
TV: ESPN
Listed Pitchers: LAD-Alex Wood, STL-Carlos Martinez

Analysis: The Dodgers’ Alex Wood has been brilliant this season. Wood has an amazing 1.69 ERA to go along with a 1.00 WHIP. He’s gone 6 and 0 in 8 starts. He’s won his last 5 starts.

Cardinal batters have faced Wood 29 times. They’ve done okay, batting .276 with a home run from their 8 hits. But, I’m not sure the Cards are ready for this version of Alex Wood. He’s been the Dodgers’ best pitcher. Yes, even better than Clayton Kershaw.

Carlos Martinez will try to counter Wood on Wednesday. Martinez is a very good pitcher. The Dodgers bat .228 against Martinez. That makes this a tough game to call.

My gut says that L.A. goes into St. Louis as the favorite. I’ll side with the Cardinals. Eventually, someone is going to figure out Wood. I’m hoping the Cards do on May 31.

Free Pick: St. Louis moneyline

Houston at Texas
When: Saturday, June 3 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: Globe Life Park, Arlington, TX
Listed Pitchers: HOU-Lance McCullers Jr., TEX-Andrew Cashner

Analysis: Lance McCullers Jr. has been an absolute stud for the Houston Astros. The Stros, who lead the AL West by 10 games as of May 28, have 2 aces in the rotation now that McCullers has picked it up.

McCullers’ 2.48 ERA and 1.06 WHIP are great. But, the Rangers bat .339 versus McCullers. They have 21 hits from 62 at-bats. Could Texas take McCullers to the woodshed this Saturday?

Doubtful. McCullers faced the Rangers on May 1. He allowed 2 earned runs from 6 hits. He struck out 10. I think he performs as well on June 3 as he did on May 1.

I’m siding with the Houston Astros to win by at least 2 in this game.

Free Pick: Houston run line

Boston at Baltimore
When:  Sunday, May 4 at 1:35 pm ET
Where: Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD
Listed Pitchers: BOS-Chris Sale, BAL-Chris Tillman

Analysis: Boston sends ace Chris Sale to the mound to face off against Baltimore ace Chris Tillman. Sale has been close to unhittable this season. He has a 2.34 ERA and a .81 WHIP. He already has 101 strikeouts.

Tillman is 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP. Although Tillman is still thought of as Baltimore’s ace, it’s difficult to have faith in him. He’s allowed 10 runs while striking out 11 in his last 15.1 innings pitched.

Boston bats .263 versus Tillman. They should bat over .300 against the veteran this Sunday. I think Boston rocks the Orioles. I’m going with Boston on the run line.

Free Pick: Boston run line
