MLB Betting Analysis July 22-28
New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins
When: Wednesday, July 24 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Target Field, Minneapolis, MN
Analysis: The New York Yankees throw down against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday in a battle between two division winners. The Yankees lead the AL East by 10 games over Tampa Bay. The Twins lead the AL Central by 3 games over Cleveland.
On July 24, the Yankees start J.A. Happ. Happ has a 3.85 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and an 8-5 record. He’s faced Minnesota batters 154 times. The Twins bat a very good .266 against Happ.
Minnesota sends their ace to the mound versus the Yankees on Wednesday. Jake Odorizzi has a 3.18 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. He has an excellent 11-4 record. Although it looks like Odorizzi should have a decent outing on Wednesday, the Twins have lost 2 of his last 3 starts.
Not only that, but he hasn’t faced the Yankees since May 4. NYY is worth backing in this.
Pick: New York Yankees
New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox
When: Saturday, July 27 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: Fenway Park, Boston, MA
Analysis: The Red Sox and Yankees resume their rivalry this weekend. NYY travels to Fenway Park. In Saturday’s matchup, Boston lists Eduardo Rodriguez as their starter. Rodriguez has had a decent season. His record is really good at 11-4.
However, Eduardo’s ERA is only 4.34 while his WHIP is 1.30. Rodriguez often has trouble containing Yankee batters. Overall, the Yankees bat .254 as a team from 209 at-bats.
CC Sabathia takes the mound for the Yankees. Sabathia’s stats are mind-blowing. His ERA is 4.06 and he’s got a 1.30 WHIP. Sabathia might get into some trouble in this game. Yankee fans shouldn’t worry. Even if CC gets into a jam, NYY boasts the second-best bullpen in baseball. Yankees relievers allow a 3.76 ERA.
The New York Yankees should take this matchup as well.
Pick: New York Yankees
Houston Astros at St. Louis Cardinals
When: Saturday, July 27 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MA
Analysis: Later on Saturday, the Astros battle the Cardinals in an intriguing interleague matchup. St. Louis is only 3.5 games behind NL Central Division-leading Chicago. They start Daniel Ponce de Leon on July 27.
Ponce de Leon has only 1 win this year. But, he has started 5 games. His ERA is 2.80 and his WHIP is 1.02. In his last appearance, he gave up 4 earned runs off 8 hits in only 3.2 innings versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Astros most definitely can rough up the Cardinals starter on Saturday. Even though Houston starts Rogelio Armenteros, they’re the pick.
Pick: Houston Astros
