The Betting Favroite To Win The 2017 World Series: Los Angeles Dodgers 3/1
At the time of writing, the L.A. Dodgers are 79 and 32. That’s a 71% winning percentage. LAD also pulled off the coup of the MLB Season when they traded for pitcher Yu Darvish. In Darvish’s first action as a member of La-La-Land, he gave up only 3 hits, 0 earned runs, and struck out 10.
If Darvish can keep it going, the 3/1 odds might be a gift on LAD. I’m not sure Yu keeps it going. As much as I love the Los Angeles Dodgers, the NL is deeper than anyone believes it to be. We must also remember that once the playoffs start, teams like the Cubs are going to mix and match their lineups to take away many of L.A.’s advantages.
It might not be wise, but I’m passing on betting the Dodgers at 3 to 1 to win the 2017 World Series.
The Smart Betting Pick To Win: Cleveland 8/1
The Tribe hasn’t even locked down the AL Central Division. Cleveland is only 2.5 games ahead of Kansas City in the division. Still, I like Cleveland’s chances of getting it done and winning the World Series this year.
The one stat that truly impresses me about Cleveland is that their bullpen, finally, has become the best in MLB based on ERA allowed. The Tribe’s relievers have a fantastic 2.90 team ERA. That’s .06 higher than the Dodgers’ bullpen ERA.
I also love the form that pitcher Danny Salazar has shown on the mound in his last 3 starts. Salazar has given up a total of 3 earned runs in his last 20 innings pitched. Kluber should be great. If Salazar is great, the rest of the AL might be in some trouble.
The Long Shot World Series Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks 20/1
Both the D’Backs and the Colorado Rockies are likely to make it to the postseason. Of the 2, I much prefer the Arizona Diamondbacks. Zack Greinke should have no trouble being the dominant pitcher he usually is in the postseason.
Robbie Ray, who is on the 7-Day DL right now, has a fantastic 1.47 road ERA. If Arizona only pitches Ray in road games, they might chalk up automatic wins. Arizona’s offense can hang with anybody’s.
Don’t look past the D’Backs at big odds to win the 2017 World Series.
