Top Baseball Bets June 12 – 18

My best bets of the week start on Friday, June 16. Max Scherzer, the third fastest pitcher to 2,000 career strikeouts, heads to Citi Field in New York to battle the Mets. Can the Mets hold down the future hall of fame pitcher?

On Saturday, I like Arizona vs Philadelphia. Who wins when the worst team in MLB faces off against one of the best? I finish up the week with Boston and Houston. Will Boston’s David Price get the job done versus the best team in the AL?

Top Baseball Bets June 12 – 18

Washington at New York Mets
When:  Friday, June 16 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Citi Field, New York, NY
Listed Pitchers: WAS-Max Scherzer vs NYM-Robert Gsellman

Analysis: Scherzer’s got 124 strikeouts this season from only 90.1 innings pitched. He’s been a fantastic pitcher, again, for Washington. His 2.36 ERA and .84 WHIP are near the top in the NL. Versus the Mets, Scherzer’s been great. He’s allowed 59 hits from 264 at-bats. That’s a .223 batting average.

Do Robert Gsellman and the Mets have any shot on Friday? Gsellman’s 4.95 ERA, and 1.46 WHIP says no. He’s faced Washington batters 28 times. The Nats have 10 hits off Gsellman. He’s also walked 3 National batters. The average is .357.

Washington remains one of the best teams in MLB. I see them beating the Mets by at least 2 runs.

Pick: New York Mets run line

Arizona at Philadelphia
When:  Saturday, June 17 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA
Listed Pitchers: AZ-Robbie Ray vs PHI-Jerad Eickhoff

Analysis: Arizona’s Robbie Ray has had decent success versus Philadelphia. The Phillies only bat .246 against Ray. He’s struck out 18 Philly batters from 61 at-bats. That’s not bad at all.

Philadelphia counters Ray with Jerrad Eickhoff. Eickhoff has a 5.15 ERA, and a 1.53 WHIP. He’s 0-7 on the season while Ray is 7-3. Ray also has a 2.62 ERA to go along with a 1.07 WHIP.

It’s difficult to see Philly doing much against Ray and the D’Backs on Saturday. Here’s another run line wager.

Pick: Arizona run line

Boston at Houston
When:  Sunday, June 18 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX
Listed Pitchers: BOS-David Price vs HOU-Joe Musgrove

Analysis: Joe Musgrove is scheduled to start on Monday, June 12. Check out how he does that day. He goes into the game off the 10-Day disabled list.

It may not matter. Boston has made a move to get within 4 games of the New York Yankees in the NL East. The Red Sox hit Musgrove well. They’ve got a .265 batting average against Boston’s listed starter.

Red Sox listed starter David Price hasn’t gotten into a rhythm yet. He allowed only 3 hits and 1 earned run versus Baltimore on June 3. 5-days later versus the Yankees, Price allowed 6 earned runs off 8 hits. Which Price shows up on June 18?

Maybe, not the good one. I expect Price and the Red Sox to be slight favorites in this match up. I like Houston on the moneyline.

Pick:  Houston moneyline
