This is the first time that these two will meet up this season, they are both coming off hard series that demanded a lot out of their roster. Both are on the losing end of their last game so I expect both teams to come out and try as best they can to draw first blood. Playing in Minnesota is not something that the Athletics have a record of doing well, they are 4 games below .500 in the last 3 season going to Minnesota.
Oakland will come into this game with Scott Kazmir pitching, he came out of the gates already this season snagging a win with 5 strikeouts and no runs given up. The A´s have a great on base percentage this season with a .342 ranking them 8 th , their problem though is that they have 4 double play outing in their last 3 games, so they can get on base but they cannot seem to get their base runners home. This team will look to take advantage of a left handed pitcher, so expect them to lead off around the third baseman on good ball connections.
The Twins have shown that they have the ability to score runs, unfortunately they also give up a lot of runs making their offensive job much harder. Kevin Correia will be the guy in charge of this opening game against the Athletics. He has 5 strikeouts this season and has actually looked decent from the mount. I hope to see this team aggressive on defense, looking for the extra throw to apply some early pressure on Oakland’s runners.
Pick: I think that being in Minnesota, it gives this Twins team much more to play for, I think that they take this game because they are at home and they need to come out with a bang.
