NASCAR heads to Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware on Sunday, May 15 for the AAA 400. Kyle Busch will be looking for his second straight win after taking home the trophy in Kansas City last week. Busch has finished either first or second in the last 3 Sprint Cup races.
But Busch has never been all that great at Dover. The best that he’s done in the last 4 races is a second place finish. At second choice odds of +550, it makes sense to look elsewhere. Keep reading for information on the favorite, my smart bet, and my longshot bet to win this Sunday’s AAA 400.

Favorite To Win The AAA 400: Jimmie Johnson +350
Jimmie should be the less than 4 to 1 favorite to win the AAA 400 on May 15. He’s been brilliant at Dover International Speedway in the last 4 races. Jimmie has 2 wins and 3 Top 5 finishes in the last 4 races. He has also led a total of 295 laps at Dover in those last 4 events. But since a 3rd place finish at Richmond on Feb. 24, Jimmie and his crew haven’t done all that well. They finished 22nd at Talladega after starting 5th. They finished 17th at Kansas City after starting 15th. It makes sense to look elsewhere for the winner.
The Smart Bet To Win The AAA 400: Kevin Harvick +560
Team Harvick should be setting up for a big race after finishing second to Kyle Busch in Kansas City last weekend. Harvick started 26th before working his way into the Top 2. He and his crew were dead on in Kansas City last week. If their past experiences at Dover International Speedway are any indication, Harvick is the guy to back at the current odds. He has a win and 2 total Top 5 finishes in the last 4 races at Dover. Harvick’s average finish in those last 4 is 8.25. What’s better than that is the fact that he’s led 693 laps. He looks awfully tough. At third choice odds, he’s the smart bet to win the AAA 400 on Sunday.
The Longshot Pick To Win The AAA 400: Denny Hamlin +1325
The odds on Denny at Dover International Speedway aren’t that bad. Hamlin’s finished in the Top 5 once in the last 4 races in Dover. He’s also led 118 laps, which means that he should have a shot. Denny hasn’t had much luck in the last 2 Sprint Cup Races. In Talladega, he finished 31st after starting in 8th place. In Kansas City, he finished 37th after starting in 3rd place. Hamlin is going to have to step it up if he wants to take home the trophy on Sunday. I think he might.
