The favorite, no doubt, is going to be Sprint Cup Points Leader Jimmie Johnson. Johnson, regarded as the top driver at NASCAR, will be looking for his third win in 2016. Standing in his way will be driver Kyle Busch who goes into the Duck Commander after winning at Martinsville on April 3.

Stadium: Texas Motor Speedway

Favorite To Win The Duck Commander 500: Jimmie Johnson 6/1
Johnson has been great in 2016. Out of 6 starts, JJ has 4 total Top 10 finishes. He has 2 wins, at Atlanta and at California, and he’s finished in the Top 5 50% of the time. Johnson has torn it up at the Texas Motor Speedway in the last 4 races. JJ has 3 wins in the last 4 at Texas with an average finish of 7. He’s led 325 laps in the last 4 races at Texas Motor Speedway. That’s far and away the most laps led at TMS in the last 4. His average start has been 8th while his worst finish was 25th. He’ll be the chalk come Saturday.
Smart Pick To Win Duck Commander 500: Kyle Busch
Kyle Busch has only raced in the last 3 at Texas Motor Speedway. Like Jimmie, he’s done very well over the track. Busch’s average finish is 3.76 at Texas. He has 3 Top 5 finishes with a low finish of 4. Texas, like Johnson, is Busch’s third best track over which to race based on average finish. Busch led 352 laps at Martinsville last week. He pretty much took charge and never looked back. Busch has 5 Top 5 finishes in 6 races so far this year. Currently, he is ranked third in the Sprint Cup Championship Standings. He’s the play to win on Saturday.
Longshot Pick To Win Duck Commander 500: Jamie McMurray – 50/1
So far thins haven’t gone great for Jamie McMurray on the Sprint Cup Circuit in 2016. McMurray only has 1 Top 10 finish from the 6 races this year. That Top 10 finish occurred in California on March 20. McMurray started 10th. He finished 10th. That shouldn’t give backers a lot of confidence. But, what McMurray has done at Texas Motor Speedway could give backers confidence. McMurray is ranked only behind Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson at TMS. He has 3 Top 10 finishes, one of those being a Top 5 finish, from the last 4 races at TMS. If McMurray comes out swinging on Saturday night, who knows? He could pull off the upset at what should be huge odds.
