What better way to follow up the Kentucky Derby and the mega-fight of the century than the GEICO 500 at Talladega?

An In-depth Look At My Top 3 Picks To Win The GEICO 500 at Talladega

  1. Jimmie Johnson, 12/1
The real Jimmie is back!  Out of 9 starts this season, Jimmie has 2 wins. He’s ranked second in the Sprint Cup Standings and once again is Hendrick Motorsports best shot at yet another Sprint Cup Championship.
He’s also raced exceptionally well at Talladega. Jimmie has 2 wins and 5 total Top 5 finishes from 22 races at Talladega. More importantly, the average start is 10.2. Jimmie is the pick to win it all and possibly cut into Kevin Harvick’s lead, if not overtake Harvick outright, for the Sprint Cup Championship.
  2. Kevin Harvick, 11/1
Harvick has been awesome this NASCAR Sprint Cup Season. He’s ranked first with 357 points. He already has 2 wins out of 9 starts. He’s won a pole and has 7 Top 5 finishes to go along with a total of 8 Top 10 finishes. Harvick’s already made over $3.3 million dollars this season.
But Harvick’s record at Talladega is spotty at best. He has only 1 win and 6 total Top 5 finishes from 24 races over Ricky Bobby’s favorite track. Harvick’s average start is 22 while his average finish is 15.4. Still, it’s difficult to look past how well Harvick is driving right now. It’s also difficult to look past the odds being offered on the Sprint Cup Chase leader. 11 to 1 odds make Harvick an overlay.
  3. Brad Keselowski, 12/1
Fourth in the Sprint Cup Standings, Brad Keselowski has had nothing but success at Talladega Motor Speedway. From a total of 8 races at Talladega, Keselowski has 2 wins and a total of 3 Top 5 finishes. He was driving very well earlier in the season with a Sprint Cup Series win at California on March 22.
Keselowski hasn’t been doing very well lately, though. He finished thirty-fifth at Bristol on April 19 and seventeenth last week at Richmond. The hope is that he’ll turn things around over a track that he prefers to race over. If Talladega does make him well again, NASCAR bettors don’t want to miss out.
