2018 NBA All-Star Game Line & Final Score Prediction
Team LeBron vs. Team Stephen
NBA Basketball: Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 8:00 PM ET
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
Line: Team LeBron -3.5
Toronto Raptors coach Dwayne Casey will ‘coach’ Team LeBron in this season’s new all-star game format which is different from the traditional East vs. West format. This season, the two teams were ‘drafted’ by the league’s leading vote-getters and captains, Stephen Curry and LeBron James.
The new format is a response to the lack of competition in recent years with the Western Conference dominating by winning six of the last seven games, with the East’s last win coming in 2014. This change is one of many reasons a lot of NBA fans are excited about this year’s game.
Team LeBron has a starting lineup featuring LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving while previously named starter DeMarcus Cousins misses the game because of a torn Achilles. In addition to missing Cousins, Team LeBron will also be without John Wall, Kevin Love, Kristaps Porzingis and LaMarcus Aldridge who are all out with various injuries. Andre Drummond replaces Wall, Paul George is in for Cousins, Goran Dragic is replacing Love and Kemba Walker is in for Porzingis. Oklahoma City superstar and two-time all-star game MVP Russell Westbrook will come off the bench along with LaMarcus Aldridge, Bradley Beal, and Victor Oladipo.
Team Stephen is led by Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni and features a starting lineup that includes Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMar DeRozan, Joel Embiid and James Harden. Coming off the bench are Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, Klay Thompson and Karl Anthony Towns.
For this year’s all-star matchup, I’m going to advise you to back Team LeBron for three main reasons. First, James probably wants to win the all-star game after being denied several times in recent years. Second, Team LeBron has some serious scoring ability with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving among the most capable scorers in the game today and last but not least, Team LeBron has Russell Westbrook on its roster and he’s the kind of guy that wants to win every single game, even if it is a meaningless all-star contest. Team LeBron, minus the points is the way to go people!
