NBA ATS Betting Analysis Jan 14-20

Toronto Raptors at Boston Celtics
When: Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA

Analysis: The two top teams in the Eastern Conference hit the court at TD Garden in Boston on Wednesday, January 16. Toronto is the favorite to win the Eastern Conference while after a subpar first season the Boston Celtics have started to play like the team to beat.

The Celtics beat the Raptors 123-116 in overtime on Nov. 16. As the 2-point home favorite, the Celtics covered the spread. Overall, Boston is 22-20 ATS this season. The Celtics are a great 14-6 in home games.

Toronto is 20-25 against the spread overall this season. The Raptors have gone 10-13 ATS in their away games. Toronto heads into this after beating Washington 140-138 in overtime on January 13.

Although the Raptors beat the Wizards, they didn’t cover the spread. Boston looks tough because odds makers might only make the Celtics a -2 favorite even though Toronto’s not nearly as hot now as they were earlier in the season.

Pick: Boston Celtics

Oklahoma City Thunder at Philadelphia 76’ers
When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA

Analysis: Oklahoma City against Philadelphia should be one of the most exciting NBA games this week. Both teams look strong heading into the matchup.

Oklahoma City almost upset the San Antonio Spurs in a 147-154 overtime loss in San Antonio on January 10. In the rematch only 2 days later in Oklahoma City, the Thunder beat the Spurs by 10, 122-112. OKC is 12-10 ATS in away games while going 23-19 against the spread overall.

Philadelphia has won 5 out of their last 7. They’ve been awful against the spread in that stretch, going 3-4 ATS. In home games, Philly’s only 12-10 against the spread. The 76ers must battle tough Indiana on the road before this game against the Thunder.

Backing Oklahoma City makes sense.

Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder

L.A. Lakers at Houston Rockets
When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX

Analysis: LeBron should play in the matchup with the Houston Rockets on Saturday evening. The Lakers don’t have much direction without him.

On the road, Los Angeles has gone 9-12 against the spread. That won’t cut it versus a Houston team that has gone 13-7-1 ATS at home this season. Then again, the Lakers are 3-2 ATS on the road.

If LeBron plays, and he should, the Lakers could keep their matchup with the Rockets close. Take the points unless you know LeBron won’t play.

Pick: L.A. Lakers
