NBA Best Bets Saturday Feb 27thJosh Bailey
Saturday’s NBA line-up has some terrific matchups. For my Saturday NBA Best Bet of the week, I’m taking a look at the San Antonio Spurs versus Houston Rockets game. The next game that makes the cut has the Detroit Pistons and the terrific Andre Drummond battling the Milwaukee Bucks on the road. The final game in my best bets of the week in the NBA for Saturday has Memphis taking on Phoenix in a tougher than it looks Western Conference battle.
A Closer Look At Saturday’s Best NBA Bets
San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 pm ET
Analysis: Houston is San Antonio’s last road game in a 7 game road trip before their home matchup with Detroit on March 2. The Spurs destroyed Houston 130 to 99 on January 26. Since that game, Houston hasn’t been very good. The Rockets are 3 and 6 in their last 9 games since the battle versus the Rockets.
But, 6 out of the 9 games were on the road. Will Houston find a way to defeat the Spurs in a home game on Saturday? It’s not likely. The problem is one of matchups. Houston is a decent team. They just don’t match up well with the Spurs. San Antonio is likely to be a low odd favorite against the spread in this game. To me, it sure looks like a chance to pounce on the Spurs to cover a spread.
Pick: San Antonio
Detroit Pistons at Milwaukee Bucks
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 8:30 pm ET
Analysis: The Detroit Pistons travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks in a huge battle on Feb. 26. As of Feb. 24, the Bucks are 24 and 33. They are well behind Central Division leading Cleveland. Milwaukee is also behind Detroit in the standings. To say this is a big game is an understatement.
The last time that these 2 teams battled each other, Detroit won 102 to 95. In that game, Milwaukee couldn’t handle Drummond who had 17 points and 23 boards. Detroit has a talented front line. Drummond leads Detroit’s front line with an average of 15 boards a game and 52% from the field. Detroit can beat Milwaukee straight up as a likely 1 to 1.5 point dog in this matchup on Saturday.
Memphis Grizzlies at Phoenix Suns
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 9:30 pm ET
Analysis: The Grizzlies take on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. Memphis is going to have to beat the Suns without center Marc Gasol. Gasol, one of the top centers in the NBA, is out for the season after suffering a foot injury on Feb. 23. The last time that Memphis battled Phoenix they had a tough time. The Grizzlies got 22 points and 8 boards form Gasol. They could only beat Phoenix 95 to 93.
As bad as Phoenix has been this season, they appear to have settled on a decent starting line-up with P.J. Tucker, Alex Len and Kris Humphries in the front court and Devin Booker and Ronnie Price in the back court. Phoenix is on a 12 game losing streak as of Feb. 24. No worries. They can upset the road favorite Grizzlies without Marc Gasol on Saturday as slight home dogs.
