Cavs Vs Hawks Odds, Final Score Prediction & How To Watch

The home-team Atlanta Hawks maybe the top seed in the east but they are 1-point NBA playoff betting underdogs against the second-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in game 1 of their Eastern Conference Finals tilt this week.

The Cavs received some good news as all-star point guard Kyrie Irving, who hasn’t practiced since last week, says he’ll be back in the lineup even with two bum legs

"No question at this point," Irving said after the Cavs practiced Monday. "I’m going to go."

An MRI last week revealed Irving is battling tendinitis in his left knee and a right foot strain, and Irving said then he knew he couldn’t be 100 percent.

Cleveland will cover the 1-point NBA betting spread against Atlanta If

If the Cavs support players have an effect on the game other than Lebron and Kyrie Irving.

Although Cleveland is the wise guy’s choice to win the NBA Championship after 1 to 2 favored Golden State, the Cavs are going to have trouble even making it to the Finals if they don’t solve their issues versus the Atlanta Hawks.

During the regular season the Hawks dominated the Cavs. Atlanta won 3 out of 4. The Cavaliers beat the Hawks in the very first game between these 2 in November. Since that first matchup, Atlanta has rolled, beating the Cavaliers 128 to 97, 109 to 101 and 106 to 97. Cleveland could turn things around if they’re able to do to the Hawks what they did to the Bulls in their stunning 94 to 73 series winning victory. 5 players scored in double-figures for the Cavaliers including Matthew Dellavedova who scored 19 off the bench. If the Cavs can get production from players other than Lebron and Kyrie they might be able to cover the spread versus the Hawks.

Cleveland Cavaliers Projected Starting Lineup:

  • LeBron James, SF 6′ 8", 26.5 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 7.8 APG
  • Timofey Mozgov, C 7′ 1", 9.6 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 0.6 APG
  • Tristan Thompson, C 6′ 9", 7.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 0.6 APG
  • Kyrie Irving, PG 6′ 3", 20.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.5 APG
  • Iman Shumpert, SG 6′ 5", 9.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 0.6 APG

Atlanta will cover the 1-point NBA bettign spread against Cleveland If

The Hawks are able to control Cleveland’s inside game.

Even without Kevin Love, the Bulls have a very good inside game. Center Timofey Mozgov had to deal with Pau Gasol, one of the best centers in the NBA, during Cleveland’s series against Chicago, and he more than held his own. Mozgov didn’t secure less than 5 boards in any single game.

Lebron is the best guard/forward combo player in the world while Tristan Thompson was a rebounding machine versus Chicago. Thompson ended up in double-figures in boards in 4 out of the 6 games during the Chicago series. In order for Atlanta to cover the spread in Game 1, the Hawks are going to have to deal with Thompson and Mozgov. Center Al Horford and forward Paul Millsap are going to have to be at the top of their games. They’ll need to crash the boards with abandon and drive to the basket on Thompson and Mozgov, who aren’t as light on their feet as Horford and Millsap. If that happens, Atlanta will cover the spread.

Atlanta Hawks Projected Starting Lineup:

  • Paul Millsap, PF 6′ 8", 15.7 PPG, 9.0 RPG
  • DeMarre Carroll, SF 6′ 8", 17.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG
  • Al Horford, C 6′ 10", 15.6 PPG, 9.9 RPG
  • Jeff Teague, PG 6′ 2", 15.3 PPG, 7.4 APG
  • Kyle Korver, SG 6′ 7", 11.3 PPG, 5.2 RPG

Final Score Prediction – Atlanta Hawks 104, Cleveland Cavaliers 101
