Could LeBron Be A Familiar Fixture At The Staples Center Next Season?
With the playoffs approaching, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to handle Lonzo Ball and the red-hot Los Angeles Lakers when the two teams square off in their Inter-Conference clash on Sunday.
The Cavs are gearing up for what they hope will be a long run in the Eastern Conference playoffs while the young Lakers want to keep up the high level of play they’ve shown for the better part of the last two weeks, while potentially passing a few of their conference counterparts in hopes of getting the eighth seed out West.
Cleveland Cavaliers Vs Los Angeles Lakers Odds & Final Score Prediction
Why I Am Betting The Cavs Over The Lakers
LeBron and the Cavs had won two straight heading into their Friday night matchup against the Clippers. Cleveland won at home against Detroit on Monday night 112-90 and then got past Denver in a hard-fought battle 113-108 on Wednesday as James put up 39 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds to come up just shy of a triple-double. Cleveland did lose two straight prior to their modest winning streak in falling to the Sixers and Nuggets at home on Feb. 1 and Feb. 3.
"I just tried to implement my imprint on the game by just closing it out for us," James said.
With rumors of LeBron possibly landing in a Lakers uniform next season, don’t be surprised if the undisputed King of the Court to puts an extra ‘oomph’ in this game to heat up free agency talk.
Why I Am Betting The Lakers To Cover The Spread Vs The Cavs
The Lakers have won six of their last seven games and bounced back from their home loss to Portland on Monday night by beating the Orlando Magic 108-107 in a thriller on Wednesday night as Brook Lopez scored a team-high 27 points and Kyle Kuzma continued his jaw-dropping rookie season by adding 20 points and 10 rebounds.
After Lopez’s free throws, the Magic got robbed when the Magic inbounded the ball at midcourt and the clock started before anyone had touched the long pass. Officials incorrectly ruled a jump ball at center court was the correct call instead of replaying the possession, effectively preventing Orlando from getting a final chance to get the win.
"Just common sense would tell me in that situation, if the clock started early, just redo the possession," Orlando coach Frank Vogel said. "They felt otherwise."
Cavs Vs Lakers Final Score Prediction
For this Sunday showdown, I am betting on LeBron James and the Cavs to get a big road win over a Lakers team they beat 121-112 at home on Dec. 14.
While Los Angeles is definitely a different bunch since adding former Cav veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas, the Cavaliers are a bit deeper and far more experienced. I’m not expecting the improved Lakers to go down without a fight, but they will go down in this one, by about a half-dozen points.
