NBA Expert Picks April 2-8Josh Bailey
My top NBA expert picks tip on Wednesday, April 4 when Boston heads to Toronto. Does Boston have any shot to cover the spread versus the Raptors in Toronto?
On Saturday, April 7, the Denver Nuggets battle the L.A. Clippers. Will the Clippers win and cover, or will Denver provide the upset?
The game I like this Sunday has Memphis hosting Detroit. Can Memphis beat Detroit?
NBA Expert Picks April 2-8
Boston at Toronto
When: Wednesday, April 4 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Air Canada Centre, Toronto, ON, CA
Analysis: Boston battles Toronto as a 4-point dog on March 31. No matter what happens in that game, I don’t believe it will affect the outcome of this game. Toronto has about the same number of wins against the spread as they do losses.
But, the Raptors match up incredibly well with the Boston Celtics. Right now, Boston will be without Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart. Both of those guys would have been counted on to control DeMar Derozan and Kyle Lowry.
Without Smart and Irving, the Celtics shouldn’t have much of a shot versus the Raptors in a tough road game.
Denver at L.A. Clippers
When: Saturday, April 7 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: In away games, Denver’s got a horrible record against the spread. The Nuggets are about 5 games on the losing side of spreads in their away games this season. That might be good news for Denver heading into next Saturday’s battle with the Clippers.
Because the Nuggets are so awful against the spread in away games, the Clippers might be over favored in this match up. That could lead to a Denver win ATS. More importantly, Denver could win this game on the money line.
Detroit at Memphis
When: Sunday, April 8 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: FedEx Forum, Memphis, TN
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: Memphis is over 30 games below .500 straight up this season. The Grizzlies have a losing record against the spread as well. Memphis is about 6 games on the losing side of the spread in home games.
But, I’m sort of bullish on the Grizzlies versus Detroit on Sunday. Memphis is good enough to beat the Pistons straight up. In the last between these two, Memphis lost by only 2 points. Detroit didn’t get significantly better by trading for Blake Griffin.
