2017 Pre-Christmas NBA Betting Picks Dec 18-24

My top NBA picks this week start on Thursday, Dec. 21 when a classic matchup happens between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks. Can the Knicks stand up to the mighty Celtics at Madison Square Garden this Thursday? On Friday, the young L.A. Lakers battle the Golden State Warriors in Oakland, CA. Do the Lakers have any shot versus the Warriors? The final game I like is this Monday, Dec. 25. The Knicks host the up and coming Philadelphia 76’ers in what should be a great matchup. Who takes it in the first NBA game on Christmas Day?

NBA Expert Picks Dec 18-24

Boston at New York
When:  Thursday, Dec. 21 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
TV: TNT

Analysis: Not only is Boston 25 and 7 straight up, the Celtics are also a ridiculous 21-9-2 against the spread. Boston trounced the Knicks 110 to 89 the last time the two teams played. Is there anything this time around that suggests the Celtics don’t trounce the Knicks again?

Yes, there is. The last time Boston battled the Knicks it was in the TD Garden. New York isn’t nearly as capable on the road, especially in Boston, then they are at home in Madison Square Garden.

NYK is a gaudy 14 and 5 against the spread in home games this season. There’s a good chance that the Knicks go off as the dog in this game on Thursday. I’m definitely siding with the home dog.

Pick: New York

L.A. Lakers at Golden State
When:  Friday, Dec. 22 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA
TV: ESPN

Analysis: Golden State’s banged up. Steph Curry won’t return until late December. Zaza Pachulia, Shaun Livingston, and Draymond Green are all out for the Warriors Monday night game versus the Lakers. They might be out for this Friday game against L.A.

Does that mean the Lakers have a shot to keep it close? I think it does. The last time L.A. battled the Warriors, Golden State won 127 to 123 in overtime.

Not only that, but Golden State is 6 and 7 against the spread in home games this season. It sure looks like the Warriors might have to work hard to cover what’s going to be a crazy large spread this Friday night.

I’ll take the points on the Lakers.

Pick: L.A. Lakers

Philadelphia at New York
When:  Monday, Dec. 25 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
TV:  ESPN

Analysis: Going into their Dec. 18 game versus the Chicago Bulls, the Philadelphia 76’ers are 1 and 5 straight up in their last 6. Philly hasn’t been great against the spread, either. The 76’ers have gone 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games.

Could Philly be in trouble? I think they definitely could, but I’m still siding with them over the New York Knicks. I don’t believe New York matches up very well with the 76’ers.

Philly lost by only 7 to the Cleveland Cavaliers as a +6.5 road dog during the streak. They lost in overtime to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They pushed versus the New Orleans Pelicans in New Orleans.

All 3 of those teams have players that can matchup with the fantastic Ben Simmons. Simmons should have his way with New York’s guards. 76’ers’ center Joel Embiid should at least hold his own versus the Knicks’ frontline.

I’m all over Philly.

Pick: Philadelphi
