My first expert pick of the week tips-off this Wednesday when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Toronto Raptors. Can Cleveland keep the Raptors from handing them a home loss?
On Thursday, Atlanta heads to Sacramento in a game between two of the worst teams in the NBA. Who takes the dub in a game with pride on the line?
The final game I like has New York battling Washington in D.C. Will the Knicks take down the tough Washington Wizards?
NBA Expert Picks March 19th-25th, 2018
Toronto at Cleveland
When: Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
Analysis: The Toronto Raptors dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the last game between these two. Toronto beat Cleveland 133 to 99. It was as bad of a loss as the Cavaliers have had this season.
That was before Cleveland made the trades, though. Can the Cavaliers upset Toronto? Probably not. The Cavs started out great after the trades. Lately, they’ve been a mess. The Cavs allow 110.1 points per game on defense. They allow 110.2 points on defense.
Toronto allows 103.3 points on D. They score over 112 points per on average. The Toronto Raptors should decimate the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
NBA Expert Pick: Toronto
Atlanta at Sacramento
When: Thursday, March 22 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: Atlanta is about 20 games behind the Washington Wizards in the Southeast Standings. The Hawks are just a bad basketball team. When Atlanta wins, it’s a rarity like when they beat Phoenix 113 to 112 on March 4.
Sacramento isn’t much better. The Kings are more than 30 games behind the Golden State Warriors in the Pacific Division. Sacramento averages 8 points less than what they score per game. That’s ridiculous.
At least Atlanta plays hard. Sacramento doesn’t seem to play hard. I’m not sure they can. Atlanta should see battling the Kings as a chance to pick up a win. They figure to do just that. I also believe they cover the spread.
NBA Expert Pick: Atlanta
New York at Washington
When: Sunday, March 25 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: Without Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks have fallen off a cliff. The Knicks rank twenty-first in points scored per game. They average over 104 per. They rank twentieth in points allowed per game. The Knicks allow over 107 per.
The problem with New York is that their entire offensive game plan revolved around Porzingis. He was sort of a power forward point. Without Porzingis, the Knicks have no shot of keeping it close versus Washington.
Bradley Beal could score over 40 in this game. The Wizards should dominate the Knicks on Sunday.
NBA Expert Pick: Washington
