Cleveland heads to Charlotte in my first NBA expert this week. Will the Cavaliers put a beat down on the Hornets this Wednesday? On Saturday, Toronto faces Boston at the TD Garden in Boston. Can the Raptors continue as the best team in the Eastern Conference? My final NBA expert pick takes place between Houston and San Antonio. Can the Spurs cool off the hot Rockets?
NBA Expert Picks March 26th-April 1st 2018
Cleveland at Charlotte
When: Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, NC
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: Cleveland last played against the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 24, 2017. That was a long time ago. Cleveland beat Charlotte 100 to 99 in that match up.
After a rough few weeks, the Cavaliers appear back in a nice groove. The reason is because Rodney Hood, Kevin Love, and Larry Nance Jr. are all healthy. Love especially has helped the Cavs. Love averages 18 points, 9 boards, and close to 2 assists per. LeBron can count on K-Love, meaning that if Love and LeBron have decent games, the rest of the Cavaliers only must do enough for a win.
With a healthy Love, Charlotte doesn’t have much shot versus the Cavaliers.
Toronto at Boston
When: Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA
TV: NBA TV
Analysis: Boston hosts Toronto on Saturday, March 31. Toronto beat Boston the last time these two squads played. Beat might not be the correct word.
The Raptors dominated the Celtics 111 to 91. It was an absolute punishing. I’d write that Boston has a shot in this match up on Saturday. I’d be lying. Toronto should dominate Boston again. The reason is because star Kyrie Irving won’t be back until May.
No matter if Toronto is favored, the Raptors win and cover the spread versus the Celtics on March 31.
Houston at San Antonio
When: Sunday, April 1 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX
Analysis: Houston continues to impress. The Rockets started a new winning streak after losing to the Toronto Raptors on March 9. The last time they faced San Antonio, they dominated the Spurs 109 to 93.
That game took place on March 12. Houston is just better than San Antonio. There’s one factor that could be in San Antonio’s favor for this game on April Fool’s Day, though. The Spurs could get Kawhi Leonard back for this game.
If Kawhi does return, San Antonio has a shot of beating Houston straight up. If Kawhi doesn’t return, San Antonio should still cover the spread. Either way I end up playing it, I’ll be on the Spurs.
Pick: San Antonio
