NBA Expert Picks Thanksgiving Week 2017Josh Bailey
With the sixth week of the 2017-18 NBA regular season getting underway, teams in both conferences are really starting to reveal who they are and possibly will be all season long. With that thought in mind and some interesting matchups on the docket for this week, I’ve got a trio of expert Week 6 picks that are sure to please!
NBA Expert Picks Thanksgiving Week 2017
Golden State Warriors (13-4) Oklahoma City Thunder (7-8)
When: Wednesday, November 22 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, OK
Sure, Golden State suffered a stunning 92-88 loss to Boston on Thursday night, but the Dubs got chippy in back-to-back wins against Philly and Brooklyn on Saturday and Sunday, although they had to come back from a big deficit against the blossoming Sixers and fight off a big charge by the Nets with KD out of the lineup. Now, with Durant questionable for this affair, I’m still going to urge you to back Golden State to get the road win in this one.
The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a 104-101 loss to San Antonio on Friday night in their last contest and just don’t have a whole bunch of cohesiveness even after adding Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to go with reigning MVP Russell Westbrook.
Golden State averages 15 points per game more than the Thunder and their ability to score more efficiently will be the big difference in this contest. Besides, there are only two players on Oklahoma City that play any defense and they’re not named Westbrook or Anthony!
Pick: Golden State 117 Oklahoma City 105
Charlotte Hornets (6-9) at Cleveland Cavaliers (9-7)
When: Friday, November 24 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are giving up more points per game (112.2) than the average this season (110.6), but they’ve also won four straight heading into the new week and will be taking on a Charlotte team that had dropped six straight until beating the struggling Clippers on Saturday night.
It’s a damned shame that Dwight Howard has turned out to be a big ass cry-baby when he could have been a potential Hall of Famer. Charlotte has one player that is dangerous in point guard Kemba Walker and everyone else is marginal at best! Back the now, ‘semi-desperate’ Cavs to get the big win in this one!
Pick: Cleveland 110 Charlotte 91
Portland Trail Blazers (9-7) at Washington Wizards (9-7)
When: Saturday, November 25 at 6:00 PM ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, DC
This should be one of the most competitive matchups on the Week 6 schedule and it has plenty of star power too as both teams have two of the very best backcourts in all of basketball. Both teams have gone 5-5 over their last 10 games with Washington entering the new week coming off a 100-91 loss to Toronto on Sunday and Portland getting past Sacramento 102-90 on Saturday night.
However, for me, the Wizards are underachieving a bit more than the Blazers, especially after talking big prior to the start of the season about how they could win the Eastern Conference this season. With the Blazers going a robust 7-4 so far this season at home, I’m going with Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum to get the best of John Wall and Bradley Beal in a game that doesn’t feature much defense.
Pick: Portland 108 Washington 103
