NBA Best Bets This WeekendNoah Williams
With the weekend quickly approaching and the regular season winding down, it’s time for another round of fun-filled NBA picks for the weekend. In this week’s trio of expert picks, the Chicago Bulls host the Los Angeles Clippers while the explosive Houston Rockets will play host to the Memphis Grizzlies. Last but not least, the Oklahoma City Thunder will hit the rod to take on the Dallas Mavericks. Now, let’s find out what’s going to go down in all three matchups right now.
What Are The NBA’s Best Bets This Weekend
L.A. Clippers at Chicago
When: Saturday, March 4 at 8:30 PM ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois
Analysis: The Clippers will visit Milwaukee on Friday night while Chicago hosts the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. The Clippers got smacked senseless in their nationally-televised 122-103 blowout loss against Houston while the Bulls saw their four-game winning streak come to an emphatic halt in their 125-105 blowout loss against streaking Denver.
For this matchup, I’m going to advise you to simply back a Clippers team that has far more talent than Chicago. The Clips, for all of their dysfunction, are ranked a stellar sixth in scoring (108.0 ppg) and 11th in defense (105.0 ppg). Conversely, the Bulls are ranked just 22nd in scoring (102.9 ppg) though they are seventh in points allowed (103.4 ppg). The Clippers recorded a 102-95 win over Chicago when they met in November and I’m expecting a nearly identical outcome this time around
DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin will dominate down low against a Bulls team that isn’t very good up front, especially since they traded forwards Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott.
Pick: Clippers 102 Chicago 95
Memphis at Houston
When: Saturday, March 4 at 9:00 PM ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX
TV: FSSE, RTSW
Analysis: The Grizz will it the road to face Dallas on Friday while the Rockets will be lying in wait for Memphis after smacking the Clippers senseless in their 122-103 beatdown on Wednesday. The Grizz have won two straight but are just 3-3 over their last six games The bottom line for me concerning this matchup is that Houston is just too explosive offensively for any team in the league to keep up with, outside of the Golden State Warriors. Houston ranks a stellar second in scoring by putting up a whopping 115.1 points per game while Memphis ranks 27th in scoring by averaging just 101.2 points per game. James Harden and the Rockets get it done by at least eight points.
Pick: Houston 112 Memphis 104
Oklahoma City at Dallas
When: Sunday, March 5 at 8:30 PM ET
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: FSOK, FSSW, ESPN
Analysis: Oklahoma City will play a pair of road games against Portland and Phoenix before meeting the Mavs on Sunday while Dallas will host Memphis on Friday night.
Russell Westbrook has been up to his triple-double best in leading Oklahoma City to four straight wins, including the Thunder’s 109-106 win over Utah on Tuesday night. Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks have lost four of their last six games including their 100-95 loss against Atlanta on Wednesday.
With the Mavs allowing two more points per game than they average and Oklahoma City ranking a solid 12th in scoring, I’m thinking the Thunder are about as close to a lock as it gets to win this matchup by at least a half-dozen points.
Pick: Oklahoma City 106 Dallas 100
