Without a doubt, the best game of the week in the NBA has San Antonio battling Golden State in Oakland on Thursday, April 7. The two favorites to win the NBA Championship this season, The Spurs and the Warriors could give us a sweet preview of what to expect in the Western Conference Playoffs.
My free betting picks for this week’s NBA action start on mid-week when Cleveland travels to Indiana. I also like the looks of the Cleveland versus Chicago game, Saturday night’s feature on ABC.
A Closer Look At My NBA Free Picks April 4-10
Cleveland at Indiana
When: Wednesday, April 6 at 7:00 pm ET
Cleveland has an 18 and 20 road record against the spread starting this week. But, not counting their April 5 road game against Milwaukee, the Cavs have covered in 2 out of their last 3 on the road. This includes beating Atlanta 110 to 108 in overtime on the road on April 1 as a +2.5 point underdog.
The last time that Cleveland faced Indiana, they beat the Pacers 100 to 96. What NBA handicappers should notice about that game is that the Cavs allowed the Pacers to shoot 46% from the field and 44% from three. If Cleveland gives up those percentages on the road, Indiana should win this battle straight up.
San Antonio at Golden State
When: Thursday, April 7 at 10:30 pm ET
This is the game, friends. San Antonio is currently a +250 second choice in sports books to beat Golden State and the Eastern Conference representative for the NBA Championship. I actually love those odds just because I do feel that San Antonio only needs to beat Golden State.
The Spurs did that the last time that these 2 teams faced each other. The game was in San Antonio where the Spurs easily handled Golden State 87 to 79. The Spurs are likely to try the same defensive tactics in this battle on Thursday. Coach Popovich would like nothing more than to get into the head of Golden State’s players. I like the Spurs to make it 2 in a row versus the Warriors.
Pick: San Antonio
Cleveland at Chicago
When: Saturday, April 9 at 8:30 pm ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers show up on Saturday night, April 9, in a battle against the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs should be favored in this because lately Chicago has been a mess. The Bulls are 4 and 2 straight up in their last 6 games. The last time that Chicago faced the Cavs, Cleveland thumped the Bulls 106 to 95. Pau Gasol played in that game.
Gasol won’t play in this game. Chicago has slim hopes of making the playoffs this season while Cleveland will want to work on its defense going into the NBA Playoffs. It’s tough to see Cleveland blowing this game unless Coach Tyronn Lue decides to rest LeBron. I think Cleveland rolls.
