It took three games, but Atlanta finally covered the spread against the Cavs, but the Hawks squad fell to 0-3 straight up and is facing elimination for the first time this post-season. Game three also went to overtime, and the 114-111 result in favor of Cleveland pushed the game total OVER for the first time in the series.
Lebron James closed game three on Sunday Night on all fours on the legs of a triple-double. James put up 37 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and doled out 13 assists. He is averaging 32.6 points per game against Atlanta in the Eastern Conference finals, along 11.6 rebounds per game and 10.0 assists, but the long season is beginning to wear on his 30-year old body.
“I’m feeling all right,” he said, forcing a smile that showed he wasn’t being entirely truthful. “I’ve been better, but I’ve been worse. I think I’ve been worse.”
“When you want to win, you’ve got to sacrifice your body feeling good,” he continued. “That’s just what it’s about.”
Cavs shooting guard JR Smith has scored 18.0 points per game, and 6.6 rebounds per game, and has upped his game with point guard Kyrie Irving sitting the past two games with a knee injury. The Cavaliers have averaged 101.6 points per game in this series against the Hawks, shooting 42.9% from the field while grabbing 46.0 rebounds per game.
"Started out the game just out of character, out of rhythm. But I had to make a difference," James said after the overtime win in game three. "It’s a great feeling to be able to make plays for your teammates. I’m happy I was able to make a few."
Atlanta played most of game three without center Al Horford, who was ejected after elbowing Cavs guard Matthew Dellavedova. The Hawks have been powered by point guard Jeff Teague (23.3 PPG, 5.6 APG) and power forward Paul Millsap (13.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG), but do they have enough to deny LeBron James and the Cavs?

The Hawks have also missed shooter Kyle Korver, who has been slowed by an ankle injury. The Hawks have averaged 94.0 points per game in the Eastern Conference finals against the Cavs, and 46.0 rebounds per game, shooting 42.3 from the field.
"I did think he went at me, but I should have handled it better," Horford said of the play against Dellavedova. "Shouldn’t have gotten caught up in that, and it’s something I’ll definitely learn from."
