Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Predictions, Pick & Betting Preview

The NBA Season is really heating up. The Los Angeles Clippers are on a road trip that could put them a couple of games behind the leaders in the Pacific Division if they don’t win.

It’s always difficult to win on the road in the NBA. To make things more difficult for LAC when they take on Phoenix on Thursday is the fact that they battle Dallas on the road on Wednesday. Will the Clipps be able to beat Phoenix a day after taking on Cuban’s Mavericks?

If You Are Betting On The Los Angeles Clippers Odds

The Los Angeles Clippers front line should be able to easily handle Phoenix’s front line. The Clippers are led by Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Griffin leads the team in points per game at 28.6. He’s averaging 10 rebounds and close to 4 assists a game. Jordan leads the team in rebounds in 13.3 a game. He’s averaging 10.1 points and close to 4 blocks per matchup.

It doesn’t look like the Suns’ front line is going to be able to stick with the Clippers’ bigs on Thursday night. The Suns’ Tyson Chandler does average 10.9 boards per game. But he only scores 7 a game. Neither Markieff Morris nor P.J. Tucker is averaging enough points or rebounds to challenge Griffin and Jordan.

"I think it’s very important," Chris Paul said of the contributions by the reserves after the 102-96 win over the Suns early this season. "If you look at the teams that are the most successful in our league, they have that depth. Our bench was amazing tonight, and we’re going to need that."

The LA Clippers are 6-0 and 4-2 in their last six games against the Phoenix Suns. They have averaged 107.0 points, 45.5 rebounds, 23.0 assists in the last two in the series while shooting 46.7% from the field and 34.5 from three-point land.

"In the first half, we had open looks and just weren’t making any shots," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said after the first loss to LA this season. "We came out in the second half and started making shots. We got back in the game, and it was a battle after that. One good thing was that we took care of the ball and had only nine turnovers, so that probably kept us in the game, too."

The Phoenix Suns are 0-6 and 2-4 against the spread in the last six against the Clippers. They average 98.5 points, 47.0 rebounds, 24.0 assists in their last two against Los Angeles while shooting 42.75% from the field and 36.2% from three points.

Betting Trends Related To This Matchup:

The Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400, 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite of 0.5-4.5, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games as a road favorite.

The Suns are 3-4 SU in their last seven games, 4-3 ATS in the last seven games, 2-2 ATS in their last four home games, 2-2 in their last four as a favorite, and 2-1 in their last three as an underdog. Four of their last seven games have gone OVER the game total.

This won’t be an easy win for the Clippers. Because of their excellent guards, Phoenix has the tendency to stick around in most of the games in which they play. Expect the Clipps to get the job done, but it might come down to the final couple of possessions. My final score prediction is Los Angeles Clippers 106, Phoenix Suns 102.

My NBA betting Pick: Clippers.
