This will be a very technical game even for the preseason as both of these teams have great experience, the Spurs are looking to gradually get their new players involved in the system and they are really not too concerned with their preseason outcome, while Denver is full of young, high flying players who look forward to every game to make a statement. I don’t expect to see many of the starers from the Spurs or if we do it might only be for a few minutes, but it’s still going to be interesting to watch this team that came so close of winning the Finals last year to see how they decide to bounce back.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets
9:00 PM ET, October 14, 2013
Pepsi Center, Denver, CO
The Spurs are an older group that picked up a few key young players in the offseason to help them get through the minutes in the 82 games of the regular season, with an aging core of solid all-stars minute managing is the most important part for this team’s success. Look for them to get physical on the block while moving the ball to the top of the key and trying different plays, I think they will look to work on their one on one defense even though that might cost them some points.
Denver is coming into this season with a new head coach, but most of the guys remained on the team from last year and I expect to see key role players like Kenneth Ferried with much more responsibility to help lift his team and get the tempo going. Nate Robinson will also provide a spark off the bench for this teams who has lacked just that late in their season.
What to Expect:
The Nuggets are the clear NBA preseason betting favorites and they will take this game, the Spurs will put up a fight but they are not interested as much in the outcome as they are in the incorporation of their new players to their system. The Nuggets are -7.5 in this game and they will take it at home, in my opinion this line could hit 9 by game time, so take it early.
