Pacers, Blazers and Raptors Are Best NBA Betting Picks This WeekendNoah Williams
As is always the case, check your local listings and hit the NBA sportsbook the day-of to see what the game lines are. All of the listed NBA free picks I’ve made below are against the spread and straight up, based on estimations of what the line should be.
The Best NBA Betting Picks This Weekend
Indiana Pacers over BOSTON CELTCIS (Friday 8pm EST)
The Pacers have been one of the hardest betting picks to make money on amongst teams that are actually winning games. Part of the problem is that the lines they’re facing are getting out of hand. The other issue is that Indiana is still adjusting in the wake of the Danny Granger deal that brought Evan Turner to town. Turner chipped in 13 points in a 118-98 win over the Lakers that was Indiana’s first cover since they railed Denver in early February.
Indiana rough and tumble 4-5-1 ATS record over the last 10 games has left their backers a bit cold but a matchup against the listless Celtics seems more than appropriate as a time to get things back in order. Boston is just 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last 5 games and are generally a bad bet at home where they’re 12-16-1 ATS overall this season. Indiana should be an upward trending team down the home stretch as a road play in the sportsbook. When they’re on their own court, I would be wary but they should be fairly strong away from it.
PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS over Denver Nuggets (Saturday 10pm EST)
The Blazers have returned to the forefront as one of the best betting teams in the league after a rip roaring 7-3 ATS run. They’re actually 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last 5 games since the break, but the results in the book are undeniable. I still believe that Portland is less of an automatic play and more of a matchup wager.
Thankfully a game against the Denver Nuggets is the perfect time to back Portland. Denver has not-so-secretly been the worst betting team in the league since the turn of the new year. You can blame injuries and poor decisions by the front office all you want, but a 1-9 ATS record is a 1-9 ATS record. Backing Portland in this NBA betting pick has more to do with how I feel about the awful Nuggets than it does about the upward trending Blazers to be fully honest. We’ll see if Portland can maintain this quiet hot streak they’ve been on.
TORONTO RAPTORS over Golden State Warriors (Sunday 4pm EST)
This could be one of the best games of the weekend. I mean that. Stop laughing! The Warriors have been hit-and-miss lately in NBA betting picks but still have Curry playing at an MVP level. The thought of Curry and Klay Thompson going up against Lowry and DeRozan should have basketball fans ditching their Sunday afternoon plans to check out this game.
Toronto, which is 6-1 SU and 4-2-1 ATS in their last 7 games have been a hidden gem for the NBA betting community as well. At home, they’re a solid 4-1 SU and 2-2-1 ATS in their last 5 but have been facing some cake walk competition. The oddsmakers won’t give these Raptors the benefit of the doubt on Sunday, and that makes the home bound Toronto Raptors one of my favorite NBA betting picks of the weekend.
