NBA Picks Thanksgiving WeekJosh Bailey
Thanksgiving Week is often a great one for NBA hoop fans. For NBA hoop bettors, it’s a great time to take down a few scores. Can San Antonio beat up and comer Charlotte on Wednesday, Nov. 23? What’s going to happen when young Western Conference foes Minnesota and New Orleans throw down? On Friday, Golden State heads to the Staples Center to battle the Lakers. Will the Warriors put a beating on competitive LAL this Friday?
NBA Picks Thanksgiving Week
San Antonio at Charlotte
When: Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, NC
Analysis: The 10 and 3 Spurs are easily one of the few teams in the NBA who can win the championship. Golden State is the other. Cleveland in the Eastern Conference is another team that could win it all. But that doesn’t mean that San Antonio is a lock against Charlotte. In their last game versus Charlotte, this past March, the Spurs lost 88 to 91. Could history repeat itself on Wednesday? It could.
San Antonio usually takes it easy against Eastern Conference foes for some reason. Charlotte is a dynamite 8 and 4 to start the week. They could win the Southeast Division over Atlanta. The Hornets’ Kemba Walker has become one of the Top 10 players in the NBA.
I like Charlotte.
Minnesota at New Orleans
When: Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 9:30 pm ET
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX
Analysis: Minny versus N.O. could be an epic battle on Thanksgiving Eve. Minnesota is led by top big man Karl Anthony-Towns. Arguably one of the Top 5 players in the NBA plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Anthony Davis is, once again, making a run at the NBA MVP. Davis averages 31.7 points, 11.4 boards, 1.8 steals and 3 blocks per game. But the Pelicans only have 4 wins on the season to start the week.
It’s hard to see how the Pelicans counter Minnesota’s deeper starting 5. The T’Wolves Gorgui Dieng, Zach LaVine, Ricky Rubio, and top SF Andrew Wiggins, means that Minnesota takes down New Orleans on the road on Nov. 23.
Golden State at Los Angeles
When: Friday, Nov. 25 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
Analysis: The Los Angeles Lakers host the Golden State Warriors on Friday, Nov. 25 at the Staples Center in L.A. The Lakers are 7 and 7 and third in the Pacific Division. That’s much better already than what LAL did last season.
Could the Lakers possibly upset the Warriors at home this Friday? Probably not. The 11 and 2 Warriors play the same type of game that the Lakers play, run and gun with strong defense. The problem that LAL is going to have is that the Warriors just play it at a much higher level.
Golden State has no excuses not to blow out the Lakers on Nov. 25.
Pick: Golden State
