This is only the second time this season that the Nuggets meet up with the Rockets getting the better of Denver in game one. Things have really not gone well for this Nuggets team this season as they have struggled to get past the injury bug while at the same time trying to win with a rookie head coach. Houston for its part got some bad news regarding Howards right ankle and he will sit out a few games to make sure he is ok and ready to go come playoff time.
Denver at one point this season was playing with 7 players on contract, the rest were brought up from the D-League because of injuries. The back bone of this franchise has been Kenneth Fared, any team in the League would be happy to have this guy, he works so hard on the rebound aspect of the game that it gives his the energy to come up big on offense too with his huge dunks. This team will more than likely not see any playing time come June but I do think that they are going to make some moves in the offseason because Denver has always been an attractive place to play.
Houston is set, they know they have what they need to make it but they have to play smarter, they get a little ahead of themselves sometimes and give up the ball to transition offense. They need to really slow things down, get everyone involved and force the ball into the paint. The Rockets need to control the ball better, they turn it over on average 16 times a game, allowing more than 18 points from that.
Pick: Denver has always played good teams hard and although I do not have them winning the line opened with Houston favored by 6.5 and I think that Denver will cover that, so take the dog.
