NBA Best Bets March 6th-12th

Golden State, which shouldn’t be a surprise, figure prominently in my best basketball bets between March 6 and March 12. On Wednesday, March 8, can Golden State take down the fantastic Isaiah Thomas and the rest of the Boston Celtics at Oracle Arena? Then, on Saturday, March 11, will the Warriors find a way to beat San Antonio at the AT&T Center in Texas? Sunday is a terrific matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets. Will The Beard or King James shine on March 12?

NBA Picks March 6th-12th

Boston at Golden State
When:  Wednesday, March 8 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA

Analysis: Kevin Durant won’t return until April. It doesn’t seem to matter. All the MVP has done is light up opponents like he did the two years before KD arrived at Golden State. Steph Curry isn’t alone. Klay Thompson has picked it up as well.

In fact, the Splash Brothers have gone back to being the Splash Brothers. In the Warriors’ 112 to 105 win over New York on Feb. 5, Thompson scored 29 points. Curry scored 31. Both dominated the terrible Knicks.

Will the Splash Brothers dominate the Boston Celtics on March 8?  I don’t think so. Golden State should win, but the Warriors are only 14-14-1 against the spread in home games this season. Isaiah can hang with the Splash Brothers. Avery Bradley is finally healthy.

Neither Golden State nor Boston has a terrific inside game, which means that Golden State is going to have to win this via their guards. They should. But, it won’t be easy.

Pick: Boston ATS

Golden State at San Antonio
When:  Saturday, March 11 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Analysis: At 48 and 13, San Antonio is only 2 games behind Golden State for the best record in the Western Conference. Home court advantage should mean a lot in the NBA Playoffs this season.

My gut tells me that Pop turns the screws starting in this game. San Antonio has won 7 games in a row as of March 5. The Spurs allow less than 45% shooting from the field. Opponents average 98 points per game versus San Antonio.

Without Kevin Durant, it’s hard to see Golden State outscoring San Antonio in this match up. Kawhi Leonard, I believe, is the best player in the NBA. He averages 26 points, 2 steals, 6 boards, and 3.4 assists per match up. That’s stellar.

San Antonio’s inside game, With LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol, is too tough for Golden State. Draymond Green is great. But, he won’t be able to guard both Aldridge and Gasol at the same time.

I am betting San Antonio to win and cover the spread.

Pick: San Antonio SU and ATS

Cleveland at Houston
When:  Sunday, March 12 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX

Analysis: The Cavaliers travel to Houston to battle The Beard and the Rockets this Sunday. Can you think of a better matchup than LeBron James versus James Harden? I can’t.

The Rockets are only 6 games behind the Spurs in the Southwest Division as of March 5. Houston averages over 115 points per game. That ranks second in the NBA. But, the Rockets also allow 108.3 points per game. That ranks twenty-fourth in the NBA.

The Cavaliers can hang with the Rockets on the scoreboard. The difference is that Cleveland can play defense when it needs to. I don’t see how Houston stops LeBron from driving into the lane, much less keep Kyle Korver and Kyrie Irving from draining threes all night.

If LeBron and Kyrie both play against Houston on Sunday, the Cavs win this one straight up.

Pick: Cleveland SU and ATS
