Golden State continues to be hot. But, other teams in the Western Conference are also playing well.
Oklahoma City has both of its stars shooting lights out. The Thunder battle the Jazz this Friday, Dec. 11. Will Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook continue to shine? The second hottest team in the NBA, San Antonio, travels to Atlanta on Saturday, Dec. 12 to take on the Hawks. Can San Antonio keep it going versus a team that relies on defense just like they do? In the third best bet game of the week, Miami hosts Memphis. See below for this week’s top NBA plays of the week!
A Closer Look At My NBA Best Bets For Dec 7-13
Oklahoma City at Utah
When: Friday, Dec. 11
The last time that Oklahoma City played Utah they beat the Jazz 111 to 89. That game was a few weeks ago on Nov. 23. In that game, Utah had no answer for Durant and Westbrook.
Westbrook scored 20 points dished 9 assists and added 7 rebounds. Durant scored 27 points and grabbed 6 boards. If both players are on top of their games it’s hard to see Utah having much of a shot in this one. Utah is still having trouble finding a second scorer on a consistence basis to go along with Gordon Heyward. Heyward averages close to 19 points per game. He’s also the teams’ leader in assists per game with a paltry 3 per. Oklahoma City should take this game.
Pick: Oklahoma City
San Antonio at Atlanta
When: Saturday, Dec. 12
San Antonio’s straight up 7 and 4 record to start the week makes the Spurs the second best team in the NBA after Golden State’s incredible record. The Spurs face Atlanta this week after taking on three teams that they should handle: Philadelphia on Dec. 7, Toronto on Dec. 9 and the Lakers on Dec. 11.
San Antonio destroyed Atlanta 108 to 88 in their last game on Nov. 28. The Spurs should have no trouble taking it to the Hawks again on Dec. 12. Atlanta shot 42.5% from the field and 23.1% from the three-point line versus Atlanta’s terrific defense in that Nov. 28 game. Even if Popovich decides to rest Parker or Duncan, the Spurs should roll in this matchup.
Pick: San Antonio
Memphis at Miami
When: Sunday, Dec. 13
Memphis has started to play much better. But, the team is still having trouble scoring points. To start the week, the Grizzlies are averaging less than 97 points per game. They’re shooting a ridiculously bad 42.4% from the field.
Miami is the team to consider backing in this battle. The Heat has turned into one of the prime teams to beat Cleveland in the NBA Eastern Conference this season. Miami’s ability to shoot well from the field, 45%, while allowing only 40.7% from their opponents has made them one of the toughest teams to beat in the NBA. Expect Memphis to have all sorts of trouble getting the ball into the hoop against the Heat this Sunday.
