The first games for my NBA Betting Cheat Sheet for this week are on Friday, Jan. 22. Chicago battles Boston on Friday before taking on Cleveland on Saturday. I use both Chicago games for the cheat sheet. San Antonio takes on the Lakers on Friday, Jan. 22. The Spurs also have a game on Monday, Jan. 25 versus the Golden State Warriors. I use both San Antonio games as well. Keep reading for my top ATS, Over/Under and Moneyline wagers!
NBA Betting ATS Expert Picks
Chicago at Boston
When: Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 pm ET
Analysis: Boston has about a .500 ATS record in their home games. That’s not great, but it’s not nearly as bad as Chicago who is 15 and 24 ATS overall as well as being 6 and 10 ATS in road games to start the week. The Bulls will be without center Joakim Noah for the rest of the season after Noah suffered a separated shoulder on Jan. 17. Boston has gone 3 and 0 straight up and 3 and 0 ATS in their last 3 to start the week. I’m backing the Celtics ATS in this battle.
San Antonio at L.A. Lakers
When: Friday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 pm ET
Analysis: The last time that these 2 teams played, San Antonio beat the Lakers 109 to 87. The Spurs should be big favorites even though they take on the Lakers at the Staples Center in L.A. on Friday. No matter. The Spurs are 12 and 6 ATS on the road to start the week. They’ll find a way to cover the spread against L.A. no matter what it is.
Pick: San Antonio
Chicago at Cleveland
When: Saturday, Jan. 23 at 8:30 pm ET
Analysis: The poor Bulls have to travel to Cleveland to face the Cavs only a day after playing the Celtics on the road. Chicago beat Cleveland 97 to 95 on Oct. 27. Cleveland has gone 9 and 1 straight up to start the week. But even though the Cavs have been winning, they’ve only gone 5-4-1 against the spread in their last 10 games. The Bulls match up well with the Cavs. They can cover in this game.
NBA Betting Over/Under Game Total Picks
Boston at Philadelphia
When: Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 pm ET
Analysis: The over/under is 8 to 12 in Boston road games. The over/under is 13 and 6 in Philadelphia home games. Even though he has some maturity issues, Philly center Jahlil Okafor has scored in double-figures in every game in so far in January. His average is now 17.4 points per game. Philly’s last 2 games before this week yielded 111 points versus Chicago in a loss on Jan. 14 and 114 points versus Portland in a win on Jan. 16. I like the over.
Indiana at Sacramento
When: Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10:30 pm ET
Analysis: The over/under is 7-2-1 in Sacramento games to start the week. But, and this is sort of crazy, the over/under is only 8-12 in Sacramento games at home to start the week. The Kings play much better defense at home than they do on the road. Either that or they have trouble scoring points in home games. Indiana averages 102.1 points per game while holding opponents to less than 100 at 98 points per. I like the under.
Orlando at Memphis
When: Monday, Jan. 25 at 8:00 pm ET
Analysis: Memphis has the reputation for being a very good defensive team. They are. But, Memphis often times isn’t a very good offensive team, which is why their straight up record is only 23 and 19, 4 games above .500. At home, Memphis tends to score more points. That’s why the over/under is 13-8-1 Memphis plays at home. But, Orlando averages less than 100 points while averaging a shade less than 99 points per game. I like the under.
NBA Betting Straight Up Moneyline Picks
Dallas at Houston
When: Sunday, Jan. 24 at 3:30 pm ET
Analysis: The last time that these 2 teams met Houston beat Dallas 100 to 96. This is a big rivalry game. Don’t expect Houston to necessarily have the edge just because the game is in Houston. Houston is beat up while Dallas is relatively healthy. Still, the Rockets have that guy named James Harden playing for them while Dallas does not. Houston should win again.
San Antonio at Golden State
When: Monday, Jan. 25 at 10:30 pm ET
Analysis: Finally, the 2 best teams in the NBA play each other this season. The last time that these 2 teams met, San Antonio took out Golden State 107 to 92. That was in April of 2015.The Spurs match up very well with the Warriors. Not much has changed for either team. Wait a moment…did the Spurs sign Lamarcus Aldridge? Why, yes, they did! It took Aldridge some time, but he’s found his role in the offense. Aldridge averages 15.9 points and 9 boards per game. I like San Antonio, because Duncan and Aldridge are interchangeable or can play together, to upset Golden State on the moneyline on Monday, Jan. 25.
Pick: San Antonio
