2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Picks

March is almost here and that means only one thing. The madness!

Are you ready for the Madness of March?

Has Duke, through one of the toughest months of college basketball action in recent memory, remained the favorite? Who figures to demand the smart money? Is there a value play among the teams? Finally, is there a dark horse that could to take home the top prize? Keep reading to find out the favorite, the smart, the value, and the dark horse picks for the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball title!

Odds On Favorite Bet To Win The 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Title: Duke +600

Since an 82 to 84 loss to North Carolina State on Jan. 23, the Blue Devils have been unbeatable. Duke has won 7 straight as of February 20. The Blue Devils took down rival North Carolina 86 to 78 on Feb 9. That was the most impressive win of the streak. But, the Dookies followed that excellent win by only beating Clemson 64 to 62 at home on Feb. 11.

At times, Duke still has an issue keeping its focus. The Blue Devils lack the maturity needed to win the NCAA Tournament. So, although they’re the favorites, the Blue Devils are an underlay at 6 to 1. I’m looking elsewhere.

The Smart Bet To Win The 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament: Villanova +1200

The Villanova Wildcats are the smart pick to repeat as NCAA Men’s Basketball Champions. The odds are fantastic considering that as of February 20, Villanova is ranked second in the AP Poll. Is there anything not to like about Villanova? Winning NCAA Tournament coach?  Check!  Jay Wright won it all last season. A guard that can take over a game? Check! Josh Hart is the best player in college basketball. A defense that can dominate to go along with a top offense? That’s for sure! Villanova’s defense allows 63 points per game while the offense averages 78 points per game. Villanova looks tough to beat.

The Value Bet To Win The 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament: Arizona +1400

The Arizona Wildcats offer just a bit more value than the Villanova Wildcats. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Arizona. They were ranked twenty-fourth when the season started. As of February 20, Arizona is ranked fourth in the AP Poll. Arizona’s 25 and 3 record is the best in the deep Pac-12.

Oregon demolished Arizona 85 to 58 on Feb. 4. But, Arizona took the loss as a learning experience. Since the Oregon debacle, the Wildcats have won 4 in a row. Sean Miller has the most balanced team he’s ever had in Tucson this season. Look out for the Wildcats!

The Dark Horse Bet To Win The 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament: SMU +10000

The SMU Mustangs could be the best unsung team in college basketball. With a record of 24 and 4, SMU is battling it out with Cincinnati for the AAC title. No worries. The Mustangs are going to the NCAA Tournament no matter what happens in the AAC. Early on, it appeared that SMU wasn’t going to be that good this season. They lost 3 games before last December 1. Then, things turned around quickly. The Mustangs have won 20 out of their last 21 games. Their last loss was to Cincinnati, 64 to 66, at Cincinnati on Jan. 12.  SMU gained revenge over Cincinnati on Feb. 12. They beat the Bearcats 60 to 51.

Forwards Ben Moore and Semi Ojeleye might be the best forward tandem in college hoops. Guard Sterling Brown can dish the rock, rebound, and score. SMU is going to be a tough out for anybody come tournament time.
