2nd Half Comeback Teams In the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball TournamentNoah Williams
There are plenty of gamblers who live in that tiny window of opportunity that exists at halftime. That’s when the 2nd half lines are released on games, and when the best 2nd half scoring teams emerge with some killer value. Here are four teams to track in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (TV schedule is available) and remember to keep your devices handy during games because you have to feel out this play which means that you have to trust your instincts.
NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Best 2nd Half Scoring Teams
Kentucky Wildcats (No. 2 in South Region)
Kentucky isn’t just one of the best 2nd half scoring teams in the country, they’ve been one of the best bets in the 2nd half of the season leading in to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats proved that they can power back from bad deficits in the SEC Tournament finale against Florida where they outscored the Gators 30-21 to lose by one point. You can easily gauge Kentucky’s play by tracking the Harrison twins. If those guys get going, then you can rest assured that the Wildcats will have the 2nd half scoring they need to be one of the best teams to back in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Talent doesn’t always rise to the top of the board in college, but it doesn’t hurt to have tons, and the Wildcats have more than their fair share.
Iowa State Cyclones (No. 3 in East Region)
Obviously there are a lot of teams that could qualify for the best 2nd half scoring teams in the country, but I can’t leave Iowa State off the list after they dropped 47 points on Baylor to win the Big 12 Championship in a dominating comeback. A lot of it comes down to resilience. This is an underappreciated team with an underappreciated roster and they’re constantly out to prove just how good they are. A dazzling 3-0 SU and ATS record where they went 2-1 O/U should catch the attention of gamblers who love backing the hot hand and the Cyclones are spinning through the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament as one of the best 2nd half scoring teams in the country. Watch out.
Syracuse Orange (No.3 in South Region)
I only like the Orange as a 2nd half scoring team in the NCAA Men’s’ Basketball Tournament because I still believe in Jim Boeheim and Tyler Ennis. Coaching and second half adjustments have a lot to do with this type of wager, and Syracuse has a shooter in Ennis who can play lights out. That was his habit in the first half as he virtually became known as Mr. Game Winner. He’s cooled off lately, which hasn’t been entirely his fault. But like Kentucky, Syracuse is stacked with talent and they have tasted success before. Finding it again will make them a strong bet in the 2nd half of games, especially after some embarrassing losses.
Creighton Bluejays (No. 3 in West Region)
I love Creighton so it should come as no surprise that when they’re down after the first half, I’ve routinely pounded them in the second. It hasn’t always worked out but I can feel safe betting them from this angle because of their incredible shooting. Doug McDermott is a stud that can light up at any given time but they also have other players like Avery Dingman who can get after it as well. Creighton just went from scoring 17 points in the opening half of the Big East final, to dropping 41 in the second. Sure, they still lost but that’s besides the point. If they’re ever behind in a game, you can rest assured that they’ll fight to very last second which makes them one of the best 2nd half scoring teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
