No. 19 Wichita State Looks to Pull Off Huge Upset Against Ticked Off No. 5 Cincinnati
The 19th-ranked Wichita State Sockers will look to pull off the huge upset when they hit the road to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats in an intriguing affair between two legitimate national championship hopefuls.
Getting the win, however, may not be quite so easy seeing as how fifth-ranked Cincinnati is ticked off after seeing their impressive winning streak come to an abrupt halt on Thursday night. Let’s find out what’s going to go down when these two square off on Sunday in their American Athletic Conference showdown!

Wichita State has won three straight and five of their last six games overall and come into their weekend showdown off a solid 93-86 win over Temple on Thursday night. Shaquille Morris had 23 points and 13 rebounds, including a tie-breaking putback in the final two minutes, to lead the Shockers to victory.
"Tonight defined our team," Morris said. "We’ve gotten better. We needed a game like this, especially being down second half and showing resilience."
Darral Willis added 24 points for the Shockers in the win. Morris and Willis shot a combined 18 of 21 from the floor after Wichita State hit the break down 56-42 against the Owls.
"We rode them," Shockers coach Gregg Marshall said. "When they play like that, you can ride them."
Corey Davis Jr. and Devin Davis each scored 16 points to help Houston beat No. 5 Cincinnati 67-62 on Thursday night to snap the nation’s longest winning streak at 16 games. The Bearcats had a 50-49 lead with 4:18 left but couldn’t hold on for the win.
Jacob Evans led four Bearcats in double figures with 16 points and Jarron Cumberland finished with 14, but Cincinnati shot an ice-cold 39 percent from the field in the loss after dominating the first nearly nine minutes of the contest.
While I’m a huge Wichita State backer and believe the Shockers will have a good chance to pull off the upset in this contest, in the end, I’m backing the Cincinnati Bearcats to eke out the narrow win at home because of their Thursday night loss to Houston.
Cincinnati probably can’t shoot the ball any worse than they did against the Cougars and they have an elite defense that ranks second in the nation in points allowed (55.9 ppg).
Wichita State has been inconsistent in losing three of their previous seven games, including a 73-59 beatdown against the same Houston team that narrowly got past Cincy on Thursday night.
This one should be a thriller, but I like a semi-desperate Cincinnati team to get the narrow home win!
