College Basketball Best Bets Jan 7-13

Louisville at #15 North Carolina
When: Saturday, Jan.12 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Dean E. Smith Center, Chapel Hill, NC
TV: ESPN

Analysis: North Carolina hosts Louisville on Saturday, Jan. 12, in a key matchup for both squads. The Tar Heels beat Pittsburgh in their first ACC game this season. They’ll look to win another one in the conference against the Cardinals.

UNC’s played very well in recent games. The Tar Heels are not only 4-1 straight up they’re also 4-1 against the spread. One of the victories was a 103-90 destruction of the very good Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Tar Heels are a great 4-1-2 against the spread in home games this season.

Louisville is 2-0 ATS in away games. Unfortunately, they’ve been horrible against the spread in their last 4, going 1-2-1. They’re not on the same level as the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Heels win and cover.

Pick: North Carolina

#1 Duke at #9 Florida State
When: Saturday, Jan.12 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, FL
TV: ESPN

Analysis: Florida State can’t let losing to Virginia stay on their minds too long. The Seminoles go back at it on Jan. 9 when they take on the Miami Hurricanes. After battling the Hurricanes, they take on RJ Barrett, Zion Williamson, and the best team in the nation, the Duke Blue Devils.

Duke continues to dominate opponents. The Blue Devils are a very good 9-4 ATS this season. They beat Clemson 87-68 in their last on Jan. 5. Florida State is an excellent team, but they haven’t faced a squad as athletic as Duke.

The Blue Devils should win and cover the spread.

Pick: Duke

Seton Hall at #16 Marquette
When: Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, WI
TV: FS1

Analysis: Rankings don’t mean all that much right now. Take Seton Hall against #16 Marquette. The Pirates are 11-4, only a game worse than the Golden Eagles, but the Golden Eagles are ranked while Seton Hall isn’t.

The Pirates are 7-8 ATS overall this season. They’re a decent 2-2 ATS in away games. That’s not a bad road record against the spread, but it won’t be good enough on Saturday. Marquette is a terrific 9-2 ATS in home games.

The Golden Eagles should win and cover.

Pick: Marquette
