College Basketball Best Bets of the Week Feb 15 – 21

It’s put up or shut up time for some of the top ranked teams in the nation. If #9 North Carolina wants to secure a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, they have to beat the Duke Blue Devils at home on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Then, this Saturday, Duke has to take down upstart ACC power Miami.

For Oklahoma, a home loss to Kansas over the weekend seriously hurt their chances for a top four seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners, behind likely Naismith Award winner Buddy Heild, can make amends by upsetting top 10 ranked West Virginia on the road this Saturday, Feb. 20.

A Closer Look At The Best College Basketball To Bet On The Week Of Feb 15 – 21

Duke at #9 North Carolina
When: Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 9:00 pm ET
TV: ESPN

Duke has really turned it on in recent games. Since losing 3 straight, the Blue Devils have won 5 games in a row. Whatever was ailing the Devils is in the rearview mirror. No win was as impressive as Duke’s 63 to 62 victory over Virginia this past Saturday. The Cavaliers had been one of the most impressive teams in all of college basketball. Duke beat Virginia at the Cavaliers’ own game, a half-court offense designed around great defense. Things could  be different versus North Carolina on Wednesday.

The Tar Heels like to run and gun. North Carolina averages 83.8 points per game. Even though Duke can run with North Carolina, 83.4 points per game, the Dookies are terribly outmatched in the paint. If North Carolina dumps the ball into Brice Johnson, Justin Jackson and Kennedy Meeks, they should beat Duke in this game.

Pick: North Carolina

#12 Miami at #9 North Carolina
When: Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1:00 pm ET
TV: CBS

On Saturday, North Carolina plays a team that, on paper at least, should be tougher for the Tar Heels to deal with than Duke will be on Wednesday. Miami has a front line that could give North Carolina some problems. 7’ 0” Miami Center Tonye Jekiri has the ability to get a double-double against any team in the nation. He can have monster games at times. To make things more difficult for North Carolina, the Tar Heels might have trouble dealing with Miami’s three-guard starting lineup of Davon Reed, Angel Rodriguez and Sheldon McLellan. Miami has won 6 out of their last 7. They have a matchup edge over the Tar Heels in this Saturday bow.

Pick: Miami

#3 Oklahoma at #10 West Virginia
When: Saturday, Feb. 20 at 4:00 pm ET
TV: ESPN

Oklahoma’s 72 to 76 loss to Kansas this past Saturday was a bigger upset than many college basketball fans realize. Oklahoma had taken Kansas into overtime in Allen Fieldhouse in the first game between those 2.

Will the loss affect Oklahoma’s game versus West Virginia this Saturday? It could. Oklahoma is 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 road games going into the week. The Sooners, due to Heild, are likely to be the favorites in this game. Expect them to at least lose ATS against a tough Mountaineers squad.

Pick: West Virginia
