College Basketball Betting Analysis Jan 14-20
#22 Indiana at Purdue
When: Saturday, Jan.19 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Mackey Arena, West Lafayette, IN
Analysis: Purdue should beat Rutgers on Jan. 15, which means they’ll have a shot to turn a 2-game winning streak into a 3-game winning streak when they host Indiana on Saturday. The Boilermakers beat Wisconsin 84-80 in overtime as a +3 road dog in their last.
At home, Purdue is only 4-3 ATS, but they’ve gone 3-2 against the spread in their last 5. There’s also the visual aspect. The Boilermakers looked like a different team in the win over the Badgers this past Saturday. The win on the road could jump-start Purdue both straight up and against the spread.
Indiana had won 7 in a row before dropping their last 2, 63-74 to Michigan and 75-78 to Maryland. The Hoosiers are 2-3 ATS in away games. They actually played a great game against the Maryland Terrapins in the away loss to cover the spread.
Purdue is good, but these two are evenly matched. It’s impossible not to take the points.
#18 Kentucky at #11 Auburn
When: Saturday, Jan.19 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Auburn Arena, Auburn, AL
Analysis: Two of the top squads in the SEC battle each other on the hardcourt on Saturday when the Kentucky Wildcats head to Auburn to take on the Tigers. Kentucky only has 3 losses on the season. Against the spread, the Wildcats are 6-9.
Just like Kentucky, Auburn only has 2 losses on the season. The Tigers are 5-3 ATS at home. They bombed at Ole Miss last week, but picked themselves up with a 93-78 win over Georgia this weekend.
Auburn’s good enough to beat Kentucky straight up. Because they’re named Kentucky, the Wildcats should be over played against the spread, leading to an Auburn cover as a slight favorite.
#4 Virginia at #1 Duke
When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, NC
Analysis: Talk about must see television, right? Virginia and Duke could be a prelude to a Final Four matchup. The great thing about the matchup on Saturday is that it takes place at Cameron Indoor Stadium, home of the Duke Blue Devils.
Why is that so great? Odds makers have no choice but to make Duke at least a 3-point favorite. That’s music to the ears of college basketball handicappers. Virginia is 12-3 ATS this season. The Cavaliers have gone 4-0 ATS in away games.
UVA stumps every offense. Opponents average 51 points per. What’s scary about Virginia is how they’re shooting 40% from three and over 47% from the field. This UVA team won’t just frustrate you and win. They’ll frustrate you while shooting lights out on the other side of the court.
Duke won’t know what hit them. By halftime, Virginia could be up by 10.
Pick: Virginia moneyline
