College Basketball Free Picks Sunday Feb 28thJosh Bailey
For my Sunday college basketball free picks, I chose 3 games that could lead its ranked winners to high seeds in the NCAA Tournament. For #6 Michigan State a win over Penn State might vault it into the Top 5, which means a 1 seed wouldn’t be far off. #5 Xavier has to prevent the dreaded trap game versus Seton Hall after beating top-ranked Villanova on Wednesday night. #15 Duke travels to Pittsburgh. A big win could vault the Blue Devils back into the Top 10.
Analyzing My College Basketball Free Picks For Sunday Feb 28th
Penn State at #6 Michigan State
When: Sunday, Feb. 28 at 12:00 pm ET
TV: Big Ten Network
Analysis: These 2 teams threw down on Jan. 10. I’d write the word game but it didn’t turn out to be much of one. The Spartans beat the Nittany Lions 92 to 65. Michigan State shot 50% from both the field as well as from three. Sparty held Penn State to 21.4% from three.
As crazy as it sounds, the Spartans might win by more on Sunday. Michigan State has been on a roll. The Spartans are a very good 7 and 1 straight up and 8 and 0 ATS in their last 8 games. Penn State does go into this matchup off of 2 straight wins including beating Iowa 79 to 75 on Feb. 17. But the Spartans should be ready to jump into the Top 5. They’ll prove how good they really are on Feb. 28.
Pick: Michigan State
#5 Xavier at Seton Hall
When: Sunday, Feb. 28 at 12:30 pm ET
TV: FOX Sports 1
Analysis: On Wednesday night, Xavier did what only one other team in the Big East had done all season long. That’s beat Villanova. The Musketeers did it rather handily by a 90 to 83 score. It was Xavier’s fourth straight win both straight up and against the spread.
Things don’t get too much easier on Sunday versus Seton Hall. The Musketeers are likely to be road favorites. But beating Seton Hall in Seton Hall is not easy to do. The Pirates have gone 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10. They are 6 and 1 straight up in their last 7. A win over Xavier should send Seton Hall to the NCAA Tournament. I like the Pirates to pull off the upset on Sunday.
Pick: Seton Hall
#15 Duke at Pittsburgh
When: Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 pm ET
Analysis: At 19 and 8, Pittsburgh is still in the running for an NCAA Tournament bid. In order for the Panthers to secure it, they’ll have to beat teams like Duke at home. That may not be easy to do for a Panthers squad that is 5 and 10 ATS at home. The Panthers have also lost 4 out of their last 6 games straight up.
As of Feb. 24, Duke has won 5 out of its last 6. The Blue Devils have gone 3-2-1 against the spread in those 6 games. Duke needs to continue beating quality ACC teams in order to garner a high NCAA seed in the tournament next month. Luckily for Blue Devil fans, Duke is a solid 5-2-1 ATS on the road this season. They look good going into this game versus Pittsburgh.
