College Basketball Must Bet Games Dec 17-23

There are a bevy of top college basketball games on tap this week but three stand out.

College Basketball Must Bet Games Dec 17-23

UCLA vs #15 Ohio State
When: Saturday, Dec. 22 at 3:00 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL

Analysis: 1-loss Ohio State battles UCLA at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday. The Buckeyes have been fantastic so far this season, but after a quick scan of their schedule, it’s hard to see a reason to back them here.

The Buckeyes lost to the top team they’ve faced, the Syracuse Orange, and it wasn’t close. Syracuse beat Ohio State 72-62 as a +4.5 road favorite. Even in their last game versus Bucknell, they didn’t look great. Ohio State faced Bucknell at home. But they could only beat the +18.5 road dog 73-71.

The Bruins are 7-3, but their 3 losses were to Michigan State, North Carolina, and 8-1 Belmont. The Bruins have a shot to win straight up. Since they should offer value as the dog, they’re the team to back in this matchup.

Pick: UCLA

#19 Kentucky vs #12 North Carolina
When: Saturday, Dec. 22 at 5:15 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL

Analysis: Kentucky’s a different team than the one that faced the Duke Blue Devils to open the season. Duke squashed Kentucky on opening night. The Wildcats have lost only one more time, 83-84 in overtime to Seton Hall on a neutral court.

Although playing well, the Wildcats face an uphill battle against the North Carolina Tar Heels. UNC pummeled Gonzaga 103-90 on Dec. 15. The Zags couldn’t keep up with the Tar Heels.

Like UCLA versus Ohio State, this game’s at the United Center in Chicago. North Carolina should carry momentum from the win over the Zags into this matchup. NC’s the team to back to win and cover.

Pick: North Carolina

#1 Kansas at #20 Arizona State
When: Saturday, Dec. 22 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe, AZ

Analysis: For the first time in maybe forever the Arizona State Sun Devils are ranked while the rival Arizona Wildcats aren’t. That’s what happens when you go 8-1 to start the season.

ASU faces the top team in the nation on Saturday. Luckily for the Sun Devils, they battle the Kansas Jayhawks at home. Although it’s tempting to take the Devils, 9-0 Kansas has already beaten Michigan State, Tennessee, and Villanova.

Kansas should send Arizona State back to earth the way Nevada did on Dec. 7. Because Rock Chalk travels, they’ll offer some value as a slight road favorite. Kansas covers.

Pick: Kansas Jayhawks
