College Basketball Picks Jan 22 – 28

With no real football being played for two weeks, I have a trio of college football betting picks that you can cash in on this week.

Will the Duke Blue Devils beat the rival Virginia Cavaliers at Cameron Indoor Stadium? How is Kansas going to handle tough SEC team Texas A&M on Saturday? Also on Saturday, Arizona hosts Pac 12 rival Utah. Will the Wildcats continue to win basketball games?

College Basketball Picks Jan 22 – 28

#2 Virginia at #5 Duke
When:  Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, NC
TV: CBS

Analysis: Duke is the highest scoring team in colligate basketball. The Blue Devils average over 92 points per game. That makes the Dookies tough to handle no matter what the situation. I believe this is a bad matchup for Duke, though.

The Blue Devils allow 72 points per. What that tells you is that the Blue Devils often force opponents to play their style of up and down basketball. However, when you face the Virginia Cavaliers, it’s almost impossible to play any style other than Virginia’s style.

Virginia average 70 points per. They shoot over 47% from the field. They shoot over 39% from three. That tells us the Cavaliers can score points versus the Blue Devils. What tells us that Duke might have trouble scoring points against the Virginia Cavaliers?

Virginia allows under 57 points per off less than 37% shooting from the field. Virginia’s defense should lead to a money line upset win on Jan. 27.

Pick: Virginia

Texas A&M at #10 Kansas
When:  Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4:30 pm ET
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS
TV: ESPN

Analysis: Kansas leads in the brutal Big 12. In the conference, 4 teams have 3 losses or less. Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU, Baylor, and Iowa State all have 7 losses or less. There isn’t a squad at .500 or worse in the Big 12.

Texas A&M has 6 losses in the less talented SEC. The Aggies have already lost to Alabama, Florida, LSU, Kentucky, and Tennessee in their conference. Their out of conference loss was to ranked Arizona.

It’s almost impossible to win at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas is only 5 and 5 ATS at home, though. There’s a chance that A&M keeps this closer than the spread. I’m backing the Aggies ATS.

Pick: Texas A&M

Utah at #14 Arizona
When:  Saturday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 pm ET
Where: McKale Center, Tucson, AZ
TV:  FOX

Analysis: The Arizona Wildcats are in the lead in the Pac 12 Conference. Arizona center DeAndre Ayton averages 19 points and 11 boards per game. Alonzo Trier averages close to 20 points per. Parker Jackson-Cartwright averages 5 assists per. The Wildcats look strong.

Utah isn’t out of the Pac 12 race. They faced Arizona on Jan. 4, though. In that game, Arizona beat Utah 94 to 82 as a -3.5 favorite. Because the Wildcats battle the Utes at home on Jan. 27, it goes to reason that Arizona has an easier time beating Utah in the second game.

I like the Wildcats big on Saturday.

Pick: Arizona
