Kansas Jayhawks at home.

College Basketball’s Best Teams To Bet The Over On

Sometimes the best way to approach your college basketball over/under betting picks is to follow the numbers, which is why I’m highlighting five of college basketball’s best over teams below. Three of the teams are ranked, but two of them are so far off the radar that they could hold their value throughout the season when betting the total. Take a look…

#7 Kansas Jayhawks (15-8-1 O/U)

The chemistry problems on Kansas continue to make them vulnerable on defense. They allow an absolutely awful 70.1 points per game, and are coming off a brutal overtime loss against KSU after I plugged them as an upward trending team yesterday. The thing is that Kansas is probably better off as one of college basketball’s best over teams as opposed to a cover team. Part of it is that they’re one of the best offenses in the country, which is an obvious byproduct when you have the two of the best players in the country. They can push the OVER on their own most nights, and are proving to be a much more safer commodity in this regard compared to their 12-11-1 ATS record on the line.

#6 Villanova Wildcats (14-7 O/U)

Nobody is talking about Villanova this season, and that’s totally fine by me. They’re one of the best betting teams in the country overall at 16-5 ATS and are dominating the Big East this season. With one of the most explosive offenses in the country, Villanova has averaged 80.4 points per game this season. Their defense is a bit better than you’d want when gauging college basketball’s best over teams and they’re a bit tough to track lately, as they’ve hit two consecutive unders. A match up against Creighton this weekend should destroy the total and a cushy warm-up against DePaul makes Villanova a stronger play against the total compared to what should be an inflated betting line.

Pacific Tigers (15-5 O/U)

Honestly, I haven’t even bothered tracking Pacific since they had Michael Olowakandi which was a decade ago. But this year they’ve proven to be a helluva play overall. At 14-8 ATS and 15-5 O/U, Pacific is holding steady as an off-the-grid bet. They’ve hammered the over in 9 of their last 10 games, and continue to have a pretty decent offence coupled with an atrocious defense. Buried in the WCC standings, nobody will notice Pacific except those of you that track college basketball’s best over teams. Pacific is a great parlay stuffer against the total. Get in there.

#16 Iowa Hawkeyes (14-7 O/U)

This is a bit of a matchup dependent team in terms of the total. Against strong defensive teams, they’ve coupled to hold the UNDER like when they played both Michigan State and Michigan a couple weeks ago. And though they’re 14-8 ATS this season, they’re also just 3-3 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The nice part is that they’ve slammed the over in their last 3 games and are still one of college basketball’s best over teams when facing the total. They’ve hit more OVERS than any other team in the Big Ten.

Northern Iowa Panthers (15-5 O/U)

Opponents love trampling these poor Panthers, and their 11-13 SU and 9-13 ATS record should continue to make them a pariah on the line. However, they’ve also gone 9-1 O/U in their past 10 games. That’s largely because they have a sneaky good offense that relies on an ensemble of scorers as opposed to a single player. And they have a porous defense that gets shredded on a nightly basis. Northern Iowa continues to be a stay-away team in terms of the spread, but they’re one of college basketball’s best over teams so continue to stock them on your betting slip in this regard.
