Another awesome Saturday in college hoops is on tap this Feb. 27. For my Saturday College Hoops Bets piece this week, I’m looking at three interesting rival games.
The first game that I look at has Texas Tech traveling to Allen Field House to take on the #2 ranked Kansas Jayhawks. The next game I like is a battle between #9 ranked Arizona and #22 ranked Utah. My final best bet happens in the game between #16 ranked Kentucky and SEC rival Vanderbilt.
Saturday’s Best College Basketball Bets
Texas Tech at #2 Kansas
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 12:00 pm ET
Analysis: Texas Tech played Kansas tough the last time that these 2 teams met. Although the Red Raiders lost both straight up and ATS in the 79 to 69 Kansas win, Tech was down by only 2 points, 29 to 26, at half time. Texas Tech couldn’t keep it going versus the Jayhawks in the second half of that battle.
Don’t expect the same type of game in this matchup on Saturday. Kansas has been unreal against the spread and straight up since late January. Since a terrific 90 to 84 win over Kentucky on Jan. 30, the Jayhawks have gone 8 and 0 both straight up and ATS in their last 8 games. This includes beating and covering spreads against ranked teams Oklahoma, West Virginia and Baylor. Kansas is on a roll. They should make quick work of Texas Tech on Feb. 26.
#9 Arizona at #22 Utah
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2:00 pm ET
Analysis: This should be a dynamite Pac-12 matchup because both Arizona and Utah are on slight rolls. The Utes have won 3 games in a row. They’ve also covered the spread in their last 3 games. 2 of Utah’s wins straight up and ATS were on the road versus UCLA and USC.
Arizona has won 6 straight since losing 75 to 83 to Oregon on Jan. 28. In those 6 wins, Arizona has gone 4 and 2 ATS. Arizona has a winning record ATS in road game this season. That could be the difference along with the fact that the last time that these 2 teams met, the Wildcats beat the Utes 63 to 57. I like Arizona.
#16 Kentucky at Vanderbilt
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 4:00 pm ET
Analysis: Vanderbilt was supposed to be one of the top teams in the SEC this season. It hasn’t panned out that way. The Commodores are 17 and 11 and behind Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M in the SEC. Vanderbilt has played much better lately winning 4 out of their last 5 straight up and gong 3 and 2 ATS in the process.
But none of the 4 teams that Vanderbilt beat, Missouri, Auburn, Georgia and Florida, can hold a candle to the mighty Kentucky Wildcats. Save for a 77 to 70 overtime loss at Texas A&M this past Saturday, Kentucky has been on fire. The Wildcats have won 5 out of their last 6. They’ve also gone 4 and 2 ATS in their last 6. Kentucky beat Vanderbilt 76 to 57 on January 23. Expect a similar score in the rematch on Feb. 27.
